Smerconish Tames The Beast -and The Reason Young Biden Skips The Race
Congratulations to Philadelphia’s radio talker Michael Smerconish named by the Daily Beast as one of ten growing national stars in talk radio.
I remember him when. My first memory of him was as a delivery guy (in his teens) for the Mt. Lake Pool Company. In the eighties, he emerged as a weekend talker on WWDB radio. Later he moved over to WPHT, which eventually, thanks to his talent, became the Big Talker. Now, Smerconish has a local show and a national show, and unlike some of the phony and fear-mongering national talkers, Michael won’t stoop to the kind of radio that causes hatred, rather than provoking great debate.
Why is he successful? Truthfully, because he’s smart and entertaining, and he won’t say something he doesn’t believe in. They call my show the Voice of Reason, but he was the Voice of Reason long before that show started.
Oh yes. There’s another reason: He’s got a great wife anf family, and the best radio producer on the planet. Her name is TC.
Congratulations to Michael Smerconish, and to the great American debate, and the principles of fairness that he stands for.
BEAU BIDEN -
The real reason that Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden decided not to run for the Senate against Republican Mike Castle? it is true that Biden’s office has a lot of work to clean up. But the real reason is political. In a year of political unrest, the White House could not take the risk that the son of the Vice President could possibly lose an election. That would be much more embarrasing than the recent Democratic loss in Massachusetts. And the reality is that Beau, a rising political star, is young and talented. He’s got lots of time to seek higher office.

Waiting for the 7:01. It gets later everyday. What does snow have to do with a train anyway?
I read an interesting article in US News & World Review this weekend. It speculates that Barack will dump me in 2012 and run with Hillary Clinton as his VP. Speculation is that he needs a woman to help him get re-elected. That Hillary would be in line as the next President for 2016 election. It eliminates a messy primary battle between the 2 that he might end up lossing. She’s said she’d only do Sec of State for 4 years. Some write it off as mere cocktail party chatter.
Little does Barack know that it won’t get that far. The drums for impeachment are already beating in the distance. By 2012 he’ll be nothing more than a bad memory. I’ll be the sitting President looking to get re-elected not vice versa. I’ll be the one trying to reverse all the bad spending and legislature he is responsible for.
A USN&WR poll in the same article says that 55.88% of Americans give him a F- grade so far. Over half of Americans! I would have to concur with that evaluation.
Lord Abott you are happy with the Brees’ Kodak moment. I’m happy about the Peyton Manning Kodak moment following the pick 6 when he realizes he just screwed the pooch. Again. Queue Barbara Streisand singing ‘Memories’ from ‘The Way We Were’.

My head is still spinning from yet another blog topic change. It appears that Larry is:
a) Listening to his bloggers
b) Bored out of his goard
c) Desperately trying to improve advertising rates
d) Had an epiphany
e) None of the above
And no mention of Sarah Palin. Larry you really are trying. We know the shot is coming and it will be a doozy when it comes.
As for Beau please leave him out of this. He’s never done a damn thing on his own. Other than his last name what does he have going for him? Did you meet him eating cocktail weenies at some Comcast mixer?

Larry, a week after I broke the news of Beau
Binden not running and the reason why, you
have at least come to the same conclusion as
I did. The party line that he is too busy with
the pedophile case is nonesense! The Democrats
just cannot take that kind of hit, and while
Beau lookd like a great candidate it underscores
how much trouble they are in to not take that
risk. There is also the cocaine problem with
Biden’s daughter which would sadly be highlighted
if Beau ran.
The reason Larry is posting more often is becasue
he is promoting his Ticket to Ride concert in
March and figures it looks good to be actively
engaged when new traffic finds its way here.
All of the regulars will need to be on good
behavior in March, as a lot of new people will
stumble in here after discovering Larry at Franlin
Institute, so no weird stuff during lent!

The dizzying change of topics has led me to conclude that Larry is trying to head off the sock puppet invasion.And it’s working,so Larry,thank you & keep on typing.
Gee Larry i think that your new tactic is working. Boring your readers to death is a sure way to get rid of those of us you don’t like. I can hardly read the fluff you write. Smerconish “a voice of reason” ……. ha ha he’s as wishy washy as you are. Where’s the beef Larry? Oh I suppose your obvious interpretation of Beau’s departure from the Senate race is “BIG NEWS”. They use to sensationalize the weather to get ratings, penis heads like John Bolaris told lies for ratings. It’s no longer necessary, the snow speaks for itself. Today I spread rumors that snow forecast was increased to 30-43 inches and everyone accepted the new totals, it was very enjoyable. How does this winter square up with global warming, its the snowiest and coldest since records have been kept. Global warming is a myth.
Lary really likes this Smerkonish fellow, He seems to be a conservative which is refrehing for Larry. I don’t like that he said he “knew him when” it seems to be an insult, but then he gushes about him. It would have been nicer to just say the positive. what does “when” mean, when he was nobody or not acceptable? I don’t like that kind of insult, especially if he’s a real friend.

talk radio? Now that Larry has annointed
him, his career will skyrocket-no doubt.
Maybe Larry finished his book and has more
time on his hands. His wife is like, why
don’t you go write stuff on your blog and see
what thosw five nimrods who read it say.
So that’s what he’s doing, baiting us with
inane chatter just to elicit our own inane
responses. We’re obviously taking the bait
because there is really nothing to respond to

guest spot, after all it would be nice in return
for the loving Valentine Larry sent him today.

really don’t get how anyone thinks she is
presidential material, she’s not even govenor
material, she quit, its absurd she has any

Waiting in the warm SS SUV for the 7:01. It could be another scene from ‘The Shining’ today at the White House. What have we done to deserve this snow? Where have we gone wrong? Could it be our misplaced priorities on ‘Global Warming’? We’ll call this winter the curse of Al Gore. That nitwit is killing us in abstentia from obscurity. Maybe we should plunk him down on an iceberg in Antarctica.
Did you see the posturing yesterday? Barack meeting with the GOP leaders. I think he maybe onto a new strategy. The Tea Partiers were complaining about him not listening to the GOP and doing things behind closed doors. And rightfully so. Now he spends painful time with equally cheeky people like Boehner and McConnell and gets full press exposure. He pretends to be listening and playing nice. He pretends to be bipartisan. He pretends to open up heathcare to open debate. At the end of the day he does what he wants but gets a free pass because he “tried transparency and bipartisan but it didn’t work”. Clever strategy. I’m not buying it but it may fool the majority of America. He’s already done that once. That’s how we got ourselves into this complete mess.
Lord Abott I’m begging you not to encourage Larry to bash Sarah Palin or any other Republican until he has thotoughly bashed Barack and the Democratic Congress. He has given them a free ride like the press. (Note I do not include Larry as a member of the press anymore) Sarah Palin is what she is. She does not speak for conservative America or Americans. She is a self promoting politician trying to capitalize on her 15 minutes of fame. Ignore her. Do not give her the time of day. Do not prop her up by giving her more meaning or justification than she deserves. She’s a backwoods nitwit like Al Gore or John Edwards or Strom Thurman or George W Bush. Ignore her. Do not prop her up.
