John Edwards. Don’t feel sorry for the shattered dream of the Presidency for the disgraced North Carolina politician. He’s the daddy, and that’s the sad part – that a child will grow up with that gruesome headline as the back story. He’s the husband of a cancer patient, who can now only find solace in her own support system, her husband, by his own actions, now a tabloid headline.
And through it all, he lied like a common criminal, which he may if they can tag him with misuse of campaign money. Edward’s case is classic. He’s a classic ego- “leader” who wants his followers to do anything for him. And I don’t feel sorry either for his aide, Andrew Young, who risked his own family by playing along with the whole sorry facade. Can you imagine lying for someone so vigorously that you would take the fall for his paternity? Give me a break.
In South Carolina, Governor Sanford, he of the soul-mate lover in South America, gets exactly what he deserves. His wife refuses to stand by her man. How refreshing!
More on the infidelity beat. Have you noticed that with rare exception, most golfers on the PGA tour refuse comment on the Tiger trouble. Why? Is it because some of them are looking in the mirror? Is partying part of the travel itinerary for the rich and famous? I don’t know how you feel, but I find it very mysterious that silence on Tiger’s problems seems to be golden on the rarified links of America.
Super Bowl. The greatest quarterback in history goes up against the most vicious defense in recent times. The refs should have been sacked for allowing the well timed-hits on Brett Farve. If they allow that kind of madness Sunday night, the league should adandoned the game, and start a new format: just arm the two teams with bats and let them beat each other to a pulp. That’s why I pick the Colts, because the Saints don’t deserve to win. It’s that simple.

Larry hates New Orleans because it was wiped out by a hurricane that the Old Testament god sent to punish the wanton excesses of the population there. Pat Robertson told me so. That is why he does not want New Orleans to win the Super Bowl. The men on the golf tour don’t kiss and tell,
they are gentlman and their silence is golden,
not something to be mocked or criticized by
a nebish reporter who wants dirty gossip to
amuse himself.

You probably watched that replay 10 times before you decided that,yeah,that may have been late.Meanwhile,the guys on the field have to make that decision without benefit of review,from a flat angle & maybe throw in the fact that players sometimes screen officials from a clear view.It’s easy to second guess but you should probably leave this area alone.

Reason most golfers won’t comment about Tiger Woods is the fear of what Tiger would do to them. To comment about Tiger, is akin to career suicide as Tiger will remember like an elephant what you said about him when he was down and beat you with a vengeance on the golf course! I cannot comment on the veracity of reports about other tour golfers’ infidelity while travelling. Their silence may be golden as friends of Tiger may drop a tantalizing rumor (true or false?) about your infidelity in order to sow discord in your marriage. So, that coulc be the glue that binds the group into silence.
Besides, Tiger sampled all kinds of things, aided and abetted by people in the know who were gracious to keep a secret for him. Police officers may have let Tiger go with a friendly chat if they caught him speeding at 2 am. There is a lot that has stayed buried in the ground. And that is what good friends are for.
It is good that Tiger is in sex rehab as it will help him prioritize his life better and make better choices as a father and husband. The double life he was leading was causing him to burn the candle at both ends and the stresses in playing golf to win may well have caused him to seek outside escapes to cope. No human can keep this on indefinitely as it can be fatal to your health as Michael Jackson discovered.
The jury is out on Tiger and that is up to him to make himself a better person.
Edwards is a loser and that adds to the perception of Democrats as being those that support lifestyles that differ from the lifestyle most people live based on Christian values on family, friends, job and country.
Larry, I’m hard pressed to find your assessment of Edwards worthwhile. From the Kennedys to Martin Luther King to Bill Clinton, all these men were womanizing pigs. What annoys me though in this day and age, is that it took a tabloid newspaper to reveal Edwards’ indiscretions. Where were the nation’s legitimate journalists when Edwards was off boffing his girlfriends? That this man could be a heartbeat away from the presidency if Kerry beat Bush back in 2004 is incomprehensible. Our journalists need to inform the people and not control their own agendas. Look what we have now…….

Sneaking out of Baltimore in the middle of the night pretty much formed my opinion of the Colts. Those poor people in Baltimore still haven’t recovered. If any of you saw Obama today giving his speech in NH you had to see how much his nose was running. It was hard to look at. Didn’t this guy have a hankie? Couldn’t he just rub his arm across his nose? Did he realize that millions OK thousands of people were watching? What a president. Barack has come out fighting. In every appearance since Scott Brown and the Debacle in Massachusetts he has been condescending and cheeky. He will not give up easily. I’m not sure that even devastating elections in November will stem his cheekiness or curb his mission. Not only is he determined to stay the course but the left wing element of the press are right behind him. Shameless totties like Keith Olberman and Rachel Maddow are squarely behind him. I saw about three minutes of Rachel last night as I flipped by. Talk about cheeky. She had some cooked up poll about “Republicans”. 31% think Barack should be impeached. 31% think he is a Socialist. 25% don’t think he’s an American. 24% think he supports the terrorists. And so on. Talk about inciting America.
The Republicans are a lot like Barack. The difference is they are lost and have no message. At least Barack has a message. They had Barack staggering and on the ropes. Do they put him away? No they just stand there and return to their corner. Let him fight another day. Lose their advantage from Massachusetts. They have no leadership and no message. They are like lost children. Until someone steps out of the ranks and enumerates a position that everyday Americans support more than Barack’s socialist agenda Barack will be the defacto leader in America. I even heard on Fox News this weekend that Scott Brown maybe the GOP’s best hope in 2012. Scott Brown. A month ago no one had even heard of him in MA. Now he is the GOP’s great white hope? Sad. The GOP better get their act together before November or this very bad play will continue until 2016. We’ll all be out of work and penniless. The Government will be supporting everyone with what once was Social Security and Medicare savings. We all will be equal. America will be a Third World Country. The socialists will have won.
