Haiti Disaster – America Is The Leader – For Good Reason

Rush Limbaugh “distinguished” himself again this week by putting a racial tag on President Obama’s fast response to the disaster in Haiti. That is quite sad.  This is not a political issue.  This is about keeping people alive.

America’s response was America’s way – fast, thorough, with dramatic efforts to save lives and save a small and troubled nation. Our aid and our troops will once again show the world that when disaster erupts, the people and the government of this nation are willing to do what is necessary.

Also the subject of Haiti:  Where is the dictator? Hugo Chavez has not said a word about the crisis in the hemisphere. Where is the dictator, the self professed man of the people?  And maybe his friends in nuclear-seeking Iran could send some assistance?

This is a crisis of untold proportions, perhaps the worst disaster in the Americas in the last one hundred years. We can’t turn away. And in the great American tradition of giving. we won’t. This is no time for political division. Period.

“We can’t turn away. And in the great American tradition of giving. we won’t.” We won’t turn away or we won’t give ? The extra period confuses me too but I’ll give that a pass since we do have a topic change.Actually I agree with Limbaugh on this one (maybe a first), Obama made it both racial & political.

Larry, you are 100 percent correct today.

Of cousre it was me who first realized the
magnitude of tragedy, coined it as worst ever
in western hemisphere, and put it into perspective
of Katrina and framed the racial issue. All
while you ignored Haiti and talked about Conan
Obrien and yourself getting booted of local
TV affiliates. Happily you are now in the
    current news cycle.

Obama is in a no win situation, and that’s why
many blacks felt a black president may not
be as good as whites think. This crisis deserves
pulling out all the stops. Haiti is our neighbor
And the level of human suffering is beyond the
pale. Its also why I compared it to Katrina.
We Americans are so spoiled and ungreatful for
our generous country. Katrina was a non event
    in comparison to this disaster.

Many whites are going to say Obama is trying
to show how he would have handled Katrina, others
will say he is doing to much because of race.

The African Haitians deserve much more help
than the African Americans got in Katrina, if
fact, African Americans should be ashamed at
how they embarrased our country during Katrina.
The African Haitians derserve this unprecedented
help and I believe they will be far more greatful
for it, even if given just 10percent of what
African Americans got out of Katrina.

Oh Larry this is the country where Rush Limbaugh can play a song called Barack the Magic Negro on his radio show and get republican respect and then turn around and criticize Harry Reid as racist for using the word negro when describing the president. And a dumb gal like me can gain lots of respect for reading a speech from a teleprompter at a convention.

Besides, we all know that Rush goes to Dominican Republic with his Viagra and his gifts for the plump young lads there. He told me he doesn’t like Haiti because the kids are too scrawny. He likes um with some meat on their tawny bones.

What a week it has been for buffoons.Locally we’ve got Arlene Ackerman, nationally there’s Martha Coakley.I’m giving serious thought to leaving the country,Thailand is looking good right about now.

Listening to Lord Abott go on about his knowledge of Haiti and racial politics is like listening to Michael Vick explain dog grooming and animal husbandry.

  6. Ed
    January 15th, 2010 | 4:49 pm

YAP Arlen Ackerman is not a very thoughtful person. She needs a few months in some boot camp for school administrators

Ed-You’re being way too kind to Ackerman. She’s an arrogant, useless tool & I hope Nutter grows a sack & gasses her.

  8. Ed
    January 15th, 2010 | 5:32 pm

Martha Coakley (a former DA in Mass) is not a very popular person up there. She is supposed to be a Hillary Clinton wanna be. That’s why the Democrats have latched on to her. Obama is even going to make an appearance in Mass to support her on Sunday. She must be in a desperate situation.

  9. Ed
    January 15th, 2010 | 5:47 pm

I didn’t mean to infer that Arlene should keep her job in Philadelphia. Au contraire….. Similar to Lord Abott, arrogance should come with a price. In Abbot’s case the price is being thought of as a fool.

  10. yap
    January 15th, 2010 | 6:00 pm

Wait,Coakley is Catholic ? And she said Catholics shouldn’t take jobs in emergency rooms-I’m confused. This race is almost as interesting as the last democratic primaries & the presidential election.Should Brown win,I don’t think he will but… should he win it will be interesting to see how long it takes the state to certify the returns.Probably not quick enough to remove the interim Democrat from voting on the health bill.

  11. Lord Abott
    January 15th, 2010 | 6:01 pm

Bill & Hil are doing a great job with Haiti,
Bill built some street cred working with
George HW Bush on tsunami relief, and to watch
him today it really shows. He has raised over
a billion for his charity and will be instrumental
In getting Haiti rebuilt. They call him the
first black president for a reasaon, and this
Tragedy is the best thing that will ever happen
to him, and he know to never waste a crisis.

If Bill Clinton spends the rest of his life
working to rebuild Haiti, he will have really
mattered, and his legacy will be secure.
Mark the words of Lord Abott, Bill Clinton is
Going to own this tragedy, and out of the ruins
will rise his legacy as one of the greatest
Presidents in last 100 years (top 5 probably)

Al Gore will again be irrelevant, global warming
has become a joke, and he can’t go near Haiti
without looking like he’s holding Clinton’s
    Condoms.

  12. Lord Abott
    January 15th, 2010 | 6:15 pm

Ed, finally you are correct about something.
Michael Vic knows dog breeding and grooming
about as well as I know business, politics,
and race relations. I am also widely acclaimed
as a writer and auther of several publications.

What’s your point Ed? Is your house too cold?
Go to Buderus.com and take a look at those
furnaces, its like having a BMW 7 series in
your basment, it will change your life, and
Save you a ton of money. Larry Kane has already
Asked his home heating contracor about Buderus,
because even though he doesn’t like me, he knows
    I know what good is.

  13. Ed
    January 15th, 2010 | 6:25 pm

They call him the first black president for a (let me get this correct) “reasaon”, quoting Lord abott. If you think Bill Clinton is going to salvage his horrible reputation by simply going to Haiti and collecting a few dollars than I have some swamp land in southern Haiti I’d like to sell you for a song.

    January 15th, 2010 | 8:22 pm

Well well well, I only check in here on weekends, but we finally have a topic and Ed appears to be making a fool of himself again. Looking back over the weeks posts I’d say Lord Abott is spot on with his observations. If all Ed can do is observe a typo as a misspelling of a simple word, then clearly he is the one who lacks intellect, but probably spelling tests were what frustrated him when he finally dropped out the 8th grade.

Abott, I use to live in NH and it was a big deal when Buderus located a plant there from Germany to build boilers. They are no doubt the best. I’ve got a Rudd and its a piece of crap, but when I was house shopping in Wayne last year all of the better homes had Buderus or Peerless boilers, so you are right about that too, just not sure why you are so obsessed with boilers, but probably just to get Ed’s goat, which you have done masterfully- kudos!

The Chineese are being very smart by being the first to offer aide to Haiti. They practically own Cuba now, and when the Castro brothers finally fall they will be in the catbird seat to take over that country economically. America’s high minded embargo will leave us on the outside and the Chineese will have a nice country 90 miles off our shore. All the president of this country have missed that opportunitiy.

When Haiti is rebuilt it could actually be something great, low cost labor, hard working third world people who will value opportunity. The Chineese will control Haiti if we’re not careful. Dropping a few hundred million or even a billion on Haiti right now is agreat investment for America. We should now use leverage for creating a peoples revolution and installing an America freindly democracy, its like buying peurto rico for pennies on the dollar. We will need hard workers and a 51st state to grow our nation in the 21st century, 20 years from now it could be a great investment if Obama handles it correctly and makes sure we eventually gain control. The reward for all the help will be a free Haitian people who want to be rid of mickey mouse dictators. The Haitian people could someday be payiing our medicare and social security benefits. Imagine if we kept Japan after bombing it? Here we have a chance to get a well located country on the cheap, make it a democracy and eventually pull it into our union. Half the popualtion of Haiti are children, they will fight and die for us like white farm boys, and will be a grealt milatary asset. Haitians are tough and hungry and will make great American soldiers to fight radical Islam. Haiti is also a great opportunity for the Catholic church to assert itself and grow and help the people become more educated and civilized. Look at your history books genetleman, this is how great nations stay great, they need to grown and expand, and here we can do it in a peaceful rightous way.

  17. Ed
    January 15th, 2010 | 9:28 pm

lordy, the unspeakable defense of your opinions by your alter ego Yankee Spankey is a disgrace to all bloggers. Adopting Haiti as a 51st state is something a moron would advocate. Haiti is a lost world that needs a few more Christian do gooders to bring it back to a state of chaos. Chaos is a step up from the agony they are experiencing right now.

Sounds like you are all yanking yourself, mates, but that appears to be what you Yanks do. Blimey, I made a funny.
All I hear from you Yanks are complaints about outrageous government spending. “The government run healthcare will bankrupt future generations of Americans.” “We spend trillions of dollars on stimulus and still have double digit unemployment.” “We have spent billions of dollars in Iraq and Afghanistan and we are still fighting alone after 8 years.” Do you Yanks listen to yourselves, mates?
You jump in with both feet to help the Haitians with no expense to great. You don’t wait for other nations to provide monies and supplies. You just load the planes and land with your National Guard. Where are the other elite nations, mates? China is not rushing to Haiti. Neither is Russia, Germany, France or Britain. Once again you Yanks are going it alone. The Lone Rangers of sorts. When will you wise up? No one likes you and you can’t buy love (except for Tiger as Sir Larry aptly pointed out). Demo on installing doorknobs and locks on interior doors. I always wondered how they got everything to align. Looking forward to this. We’ve decided to go to Casablanca tonight. Jill read about some messy sexual assault at Tylers. Got to be PC. We’ll have to settle for Morrocan food tonight.
Jill is getting involved with the Haitian Relief effort. God lover her. Too much free time I think. I wish she’d keep a closer eye on the pantry. I ran out of applesauce and rice krispie bars this week. Is it asking too much to keep my evening snacks stocked? Champ gets to lick the bowl when I’m finished with my applesauce. And no old man jokes about the applesauce!

    January 16th, 2010 | 11:33 am

Pat Robertson needs to spend more time with bitches and hos like I do, and cut out the crazy talk about the Haitians making a pact with the devil. Its just so crazy it hard to beleive he’s in his right mind, but sadly I think he is, and thats how he explains things to himself and others.

Nice to see president Bush and Clinton joining together to respond to Haiti. It is Clinton’s time to shine, he is legitimately there as special envoy and can raise money like no one else. Just saw the three presidents make the anouncement, it was a thing a beauty, especially to not see Jimmy Carter involved. Carter must be a gigantic prick. Regardelss of party, presidents snub him every chance they get.

Bushes daughter Jenna did a lot of work in Haiti a few years ago, she did it on the quiet without a lot of fanfare, so I think the Bush family sincerely wants to help, and we know GHW Bush said in his own words that he “loves the little brown ones”, so he’s for real too. This tragedy is going to bring us together, its a great way to start the new decade!!!

Pompous fools like him only feel good when they feel superior to someone or other. I personally feel sorry for his dog. I stuck with Ed for many years, but he even turned on me, his best and only friend. We dropped out of school together and made a pact to have each others back, but that was a deal with the devil. He’s drifting around now, no family, no friends, just spewing idiotic vitriol on this web site. Its quite sad, but he’s not in his right mind, he was once a good person.

    Dear Ed’s ex friend,

Talk about an angry, bitter, old fool who never made a name for himself. Lord Abbott comes to this site because of his jealousy towards Larry. His superiority complex can’t handle the fact that Larry made hundreds of thousands merely reading a teleprompter. Lordy actually thinks he has a talent for writing. I find his writing lacks imagination and creativity. Especially his latest publications which he posted on his front lawn, “Beware of owner” and “Keep off the grass”……

  28. Lord Abott

Contrary to Pat Robertson’s idiocy, if it
were not for the Hatian slave uprising the
U.S would have never gotten the opportunity
to buy the Louisiana purchase from the French.
When the French lost Haiti they threw in the
towel on western abitions. We owe the Haitian
people every ounce of aide they get, far more
than we owe any country in the middle east.

Further, it was US trade policy to dump our
    agriculture products there which destroyed
their farms and drove people into the Port au
Prince exaccerbating the poverty and dependence
on a welfare state. Haiti is complicated, but
we owe those people and in return we should
extract a new demoratic government with direct
allegince to the U.S, with goal to become an
Annexed territory of the U.S. down the road.

Does anyone who read his observations really think that French would be the ruling the states now located in the old Louisianna territory? Obama will be in deep political trouble if Brwon wins, but MA has swung so far left and with election Tuesday Coakly will probably squeak by, another week or two maybe not. Obama pulled out all the stops for her today, which came off as a little unseemly and desperate given the crisis in Haiti

  52. VP Joe from Scranton
    January 18th, 2010 | 7:01 am

Waiting for the 7:01. Brrr. I hate this part of my job. I should just get a townhouse in Georgetown.
The story of this week is Coakly-Brown on Tuesday as Ed and LA have correctly pointed out. It has become the first true litmus test of the Obama Presidency. It will be a wake up call for all Dems to better position themselves for November. Unfortunately they will have 10 months to reposition and respin the events of the Obamanation. If the economy isn’t any better come September all the stimulus money in the world won’t sway voters. If the economy starts to turn naturally they may get a break. They have no idea how to impact jobs. That is clear.
Back to Brown and Coakly. Coakly is a hack from deep in the Dem party. She has never run for any position state-wide except Attorney General. The People’s Republic of Massachusetts is so liberal that any Dem can get elected. Witness Kennedy and Kerry and Frank and Stubbs and Dukakis and Minino (the illiterate mumbling Mayor of Boston). Despite their negative national profiles the machine and labor unions and now Acorn drive people who could care less about the elections and line them up at the polls. People that have been dead in Boston and Worcester and Fall River for 15-20 years will be voting tomorrow. People that need a fix or food or a bottle of Ripple will be driven to the polls tomorrow.
Bringing in the heavy hitters like Barack and Kerry may backfire. Her message has been that we can’t return to the failed Bush years. Brown’s message is clearly we need balance and fiscal responsibility in DC. That message is striking a cord. It’s too late for Coakly to remessage with less than 48 hours to go. What was thought to be a 10-14% blowout just 10 days ago has struck a cord in America.
Just to show how much Barack and his kabal don’t get it they are already planning on how they can pass healthcare without Coakly’s vote. They are going to try to invoke plurality (51%) instead of the mandatory majority (60%). They just are so arrogant that they don’t see the seas have shifted. Their socialistic agenda is even unwelcomed in the People’s Republic of Massachusetts. Their agenda had better shift back to a more centrist position to salvage what is left of the Obamanation.
At the end of tomorrow night’s election, Martha Coakly will eek out a 4% win over Scott Brown. Dems will talk about what a great service Taxachusetts has done the nation. The ‘great’ legacy of Ted Pickled Kennedy will be reached. Healthcare will go through. It is a great day for Americans. The People’s Republic of Massachusetts has stood up to Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin and have spoken for a kinder and gentler America.
GOP will say that a 4% loss in the most liberal state of the union is a moral victory and that the winds of change are blowing. It will encourage better candidates in other blue states to take on the Dem political machine in November. It is the beginning of the end for the Dem congressional majority and the Obamanation.
Both sides will end up getting what they wanted. The American people will get screwed on healthcare and another Dem puppet in the Senate. The Obamanation will be allowed to endure. A mere speed bump in the road.

Biden/Biden in 2012! We feel the winds of change.

Still waiting for the 7:01. Big day at the White House today. Coakly-Brown special election is being closely watched here. This is one we Dems thought was in the bag quite literally. The People’s Republic of Massachusetts is a great bastion of liberalism. Spawned by uber liberal institution Harvard the state has voted straight Democrat since the days of the 1920′s. Even when Dems in Congress embarrassed themselves with scandals or committed felonies they were welcomed back with open arms and continually re-elected by the liberal lemmings of the PRM.
237 years ago a brave group of colonists initiated the first step against tyrrany by the government. The Boston Tea Party was in 1773 a full 3 years ahead of the Declaration of Independence. This overt act of defiance against the tyrranical British Government was about taxation without representation. Ironically the election today could be a second act of defiance against the tyrrany of the Obamanation of America. Spending tax money like a drunken sailor in port. Concocting unpopular legislation behind closed doors under the cloak of secrecy and darkness. Attempting to establish a socialistic society in America.
Today could be the first step toward taking back America from this communist and his dark cabal. Shining light on this inept figurehead and his nefarious plans.
God bless Scott Brown. God bless the free thinking people of Massachusetts. Let freedom ring. Let freedom ring again.
Barack has been exposed as an albratross around the neck of every Dem seeking re-election. They won’t want his “support” as they campaign against their own socialistic agenda. They want to distance themselves from this two bit jamoke the same way the GOP distanced themselves from W. The lesson learned in 2006 and 2008 is that if you support unpopular policy and an unpopular President for too long you are damaged goods no matter how you try to sell yourself as an independent, maverick or renegade. The proof is in the pudding.
End of an Error. 2012. It can not come soon enough. It begins today in Massachusetts.

Waiting for the 7:01. It is going to be a somber day at the White House. The Obama Regime may have died last night. Lame duck. Toast. Fin. It was fascinating TV last night watching Scott Brown taking shots at Barack. Not just shots across the bow. Not just glancing blows or inuendos. Head shots. Squarely between his beady eyes and big ears. Yowzers. No one had heard of this obscure character from Massachusetts several months ago. No one gave him a chance a couple of weeks ago. He became the conservatives’ darling just a few days ago. Now he’s on top of the political world. Truly amazing.
Getting back to Barack. I did not want to be the first to mention the “I” word. It really is a bit crass for me to bring it up because I have the most to gain. Impeachment! There I said it. The elephant is in the room. How soon before that discussion takes place. Dem congressmen are in a box. If they follow Barack and his ill fated policies until the end as he likely will expect they will be summarily voted out in November. It will be like Jonestown with everyone in a suicide pact. If they start to break away from the Obamanation they will be fighting for themselves. Nothing will happen in Congress. We’ll be back to gridlock until November. They’ll likely get voted out anyway. Really what choice do they have. Barack has become their albatross. Barely one year into his deep dark socialistic regime. Before his first State of the Union. I can’t wait for that. Should be inspiring stuff.
Watch how Dems everywhere will start distancing themselves from Barack. Like a leper. A pariah. A loser.
Scott Brown may have had his 15 minutes of fame yesterday. Republicans and conservatives everywhere rejoiced. But the people spoke last night. Not anti-Dem. Not pro-GOP. But anti-establishment. Anti-healthcare. Anti-big spending. Anti-big government. I don’t think either party really grasps that message. If not the Miracle in Massachusetts will soon be a footnote on Wikipedia.

The Dem leadership put the blame the loss squarely on Coakley’s shoulders and did not accept any responsibility for this stunning and shocking loss in the People’s Republic of Massachusetts. They were spinning that this was not a referendum on Barack, heathcare or their socialistic agenda. Oh really? Dem spin meister Paul Begala was throwing up in his mouth speaking about how this was a local phenomenon in the PRM. How CNN can pay this lackey tool is beyond belief.
