Would You Want The Olympics? Golden October -Montco Madness
While both sides of the great divide are bashing and praising President Obama on the Olympic defeat in Copenhagen, few have spotlighted the sigh of relief in Chicago, where a good portion of the community was squarely against the Olympics. Would you want the Olympics in Philadelphia? I would. I think any world event that spotlights on a city, a region and its attributes, offers wonderful opportunities for income and glory. But I do understand people who would want the urban challenges of crime and job loss to be conquered ahead of Olympic bids. No, I am not rationalizing Chicago’s loss. But I am mystified about the choice of Rio. Yes, the first Latin country to host, but also one of the word’s most dangerous cities, a city that hardly has the same hard-line capacity to keep the peace like the Chinese did last year.
GOLDEN OCTOBER–
The negative nabobs in some sectors of journalism have been silenced over the city of losers tag that have inflicted on us for years. We are world baseball champions, we have the most liveable community in the nation (with some real challenges) and we are in the midst of what I call a GOLDEN OCTOBER. Think of it: The Phillies are on their way again to the big playoff show. The Flyers are starting up with a new glow. The Eagles have surprised the doubters. The Sixers? Well hope springs eternal as they start their quest in four weeks. Golden October! Does it get any more exciting? No. but then again, we’ve always been winners because we are people of grit and determination. Tough fans? Yes. Losers? Never. Unless you listen to play-by-play man Joe Buck. He’s from St. Louis.
MONTCO MADNESS
You think there are budget problems in Philadelphia? Latest word is that Montgomery County could suffer a 20 percent budget decrease next year! WILL IT AFFECT Y YOU? YES!
Public safety and prison officials warned this past week that large cuts would, among other things, set criminals loose from prisons, impact the courts, and provide possible chaos if there was a meltdown at the Limerick Nuclear Power plant. Are the county officials just fear-mongering for more money. Our Montco sources tell us that these scenarios are real. This also puts tremendous pressure on Commissioner Joe Hoeffel who will be running for Governor.
Keep a close eye on this one. When one of the richest counties in the nation is in trouble, it is time to wonder whether a recovery is really underway.

Philadelphia is a city of defeatest losers, its a fact, always has been always will be. Why do all of the gifted leave? Because they are not losers, like you and me. This site makes my point, case closed, we are losers!
Larry what did you say today? Really.
Chicago should be glad they did not get Olympics but you think Philly should want them. Huh?
Why did Rio get selected their because crime rate is as bad as China’s human rights? Huh?
Philadelphia teams are no longer perennial losers because the Phillies are in the postseason and the Eagles are 2-1 on 10/4? Huh?
Joe Buck sucks and is biased because he’s from St Louis? Agreed! Pompous and condescending. He’s no Jack Buck that much is for certain.
Montgomery County is going to suffer a nuclear ‘China Syndrome’ because of budget cuts? Huh?
Larry you continue to out do yourself. When I think you have delivered your weakest week effort ever you find a way to lower the bar even further.
It’s like you just dropped in to see what condition your condition was in.
Biden/Palin in 2012! We’ll bring the Olympics to the Delaware Valley in 2020!

If the Phils get swept by the Rockies and the Eagles are 2-4 at the end of October does Philly become the city of losers again. One thing is for sure with the exception of perennial season ticket holders is that Philly fans are front runners and band wagon jumpers. First sign of downturn and they are kvetching. Once slump well in place they are booing and their attention to the next sport’s season.
Kind of like the bloggers here 12 hours after Larry posts his new ‘News Flash’.
Biden/Palin in 2012! We’ll be making news daily.

The Harry Kalas corpse on the field jinxed the Phillies, they will go to pieces and not win a World Series until after 2050, we will all be dead. Michael Vick didnt curse the Eagles, but PETA did, they will now not be able to get their act together and will have a losing season. The sixers suck, and they have not even started, and no one cares about hockey after that strike, actually they had stopped caring before the strike, and the strike removed all doubt. Professional soccor is coming to Phialdelhppia, but that’s dead on arrival, especially with over 10% of the city out of work.
The art museum is going to close and the avenue of the arts will go dark as the city fades back to the malaise of the 1970s. Other citys will survive, but not Philadelphia, its sinking into third world status. There is even out migration in the closer suburbs that once thrived. Get out now, before its too late!
LArry’s nabob reference is all he could offer William Safire as homage? He didnt even use it in the context of a Safire quote or reference, I am the only one who noticed it. Very sad indeed, this blog is a bunch of “nattering nabobs of negativity” God Bless william Safire!
Pressure on Hoeffel? He is responsible for the mess! He and Jim Matthews have run the county into the ground in less than two years by implementing Hoeffel’s fiscal policies. Hoeffel is an unabashed liberal who has run amok because Matthews gives hime everything he wants so Matthews can have the title chairman and hire an incompetent solicitor. What other county in the history of the state has ever been sued by the DA and the Sheriff both at the same time? Hoeffel will run on his spend, spend, spend record. Courtesy ofJim Matthews who gave him position, publicity, every crony there is, and lots of cash to dole out.
All politicians are crooks and incompetents. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool.
Where is Phialdelhppia? Anywhere near Oz?
I liked the “just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in” reference. Tip of the Cowboy hat to Kenny Rogers and the First Editions.
Larry, beware of the ides of October, you are
right, as Montgomery county goes, so goes the
nation. Obama need to visit Montco to cheer them
up, and let them know he wants them to be
winners. If Montco has financial trouble
Obama will bail them out, so don’t worry too
much. Larry, I think you smell a double dip
recssion. Call your broker tomorrow and cash
out, markets are up 50% from March lows. This
happened in 1930s and we saw lower lows soon after.
You know deep down Obama has’t a clue, so why
do you think his runaway speding will make
things better. It might take stack of $100
bills to buy a loaf of bread in a few years.
Get into hard assets, and non us denominitaed
Investments, don’t be a fool, talk the Obama
talk, but don’t walk the walk, unless you want
to be broke in retirement!
Missed the 7:01. Now waiting for the 7:45.
I got a call from Barack yesterday. He had a great idea. He said he’s got another stimulus idea called ‘Rio for Repos’. He said he is going to send everyone that had their house foreclosed on during the period of 09/08 to 09/11 to Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 Olympics. It will give them something to look forward to and remember in the 2012 election. A big boom for airline industry. Big boom for American hotel chains in Rio. A big boom for McDonalds and KFC there. I think he’s to something.
Biden/Palin in 2012! You won’t have to leave the country for Olympics when we are elected.

Maybe Barack could use this machine to keep all his balls in the air. He seems to be dropping them.
Biden/Palin in 2012! We’ll all have a ball!

I am the walrus.
Look at me, I’m posting on a dead blog topic. This subject was so lame it only got 12 posts, but now I’m here posting so it will be 13. I wonder if anyone will notice that I’m in here dicking around?
