Alycia Lane got a nice gig in LA. The former KYW TV anchor was redeemed when her ex co-anchor was convicted by the Feds of cyber spying on her. Now she’s been hired by the NBC TV stations. They also own NBC 10 in Philadelphia. Is this a stop for her on her way back to Philadelphia? Doubtful, but you never know.
A word about Interstate 95. It has been months since I’ve seen a police car on the Expressway. I’ll say it again. 95 is not patrolled, nor is it safe. Where are the police? Or, are they too understaffed to protect lives on Philadelphia’s dangerous highway. This a problem that can be as fatal as gunfire. It underscores a major dilemma in Philadelphia – not enough cops. Take away the safety net, and the city crumbles.

Right now police all over the city are getting out of bed saying “got to eat the donuts”.

People are doing staycations instead of getting away. Must be like when I was a kid. We never went away for a week. Just days trips to NYC or Lake Harmony. In the midst of this national belt tightening Barack takes the family to Martha’s Vineyard for 2 weeks. The bill is $50K for 2 weeks. Seems a bit much when everyone else is staying at home. He doesn’t get it because he’s an elitest. He hasn’t led a normal life in years. Do you think he took Mrs Robinson on vacation with him like Clark Griswold in the movie Vacation?
Kind of like healthcare. If he can afford a $50K 2 week vacation it’s not likely he’ll be using government run clinics for healthcare either. He’ll have his own private family doctor on retainer like Michael Jackson. He doesn’t get why people are frightened about standing in lines waiting to see strange doctors. He’s never done it; he never will do it. He thinks just having coverage is enough. It’s more about the quality of coverage than the cost to the majority of hard working Americans that have coverage. He just doesn’t get it.
It is ironic that Barack received a mandate from the people for change. He gave them hope. Now he is letting them down because he just doesn’t get it. With the exception of those that got a $4500 discount in the now defunct and bankrupt Cash for Clunkers program most Americans have not received a thing from this Administration except higher future taxes, later retirement and staycations. Not much hope and not the kind of change they were looking for.

Michelle and I were heartbroken to learn this morning of the death of our dear friend, Senator Ted Kennedy.
For nearly five decades, virtually every major piece of legislation to advance the civil rights, health and economic well-being of the American people bore his name and resulted from his efforts.
His ideas and ideals are stamped on scores of laws and reflected in millions of lives — in seniors who know new dignity; in families that know new opportunity; in children who know education’s promise; and in all who can pursue their dream in an America that is more equal and more just, including me.
In the United States Senate, I can think of no one who engendered greater respect or affection from members of both sides of the aisle. His seriousness of purpose was perpetually matched by humility, warmth and good cheer. Hyannis Port, MA: Three tropic depressions spawned in the Caribbean from 1917-1932 changed the American landscape for over 50 years. You may not be aware that Col Ted Kennedy of the Massachusetts National Guard was an early astronaut candidate as well. Until of course the night his vehicle splashed down off the coast of Cape Cod. Ted managed to escape by his co-pilot was not so lucky. After this experience, Ted washed out of astronaut school. Apparently he did not have the right stuff.

As for a 9/11 holiday I’m with the Lord on his concerns about national holidays losing their meaning and politically correct revisionist history being taught in school. If you asked 100 high school kids what Memorial Day was for their response would be parades, picnics and swim club opening day. I really like the Catholic mass for Kennedy, I am thinking a making Catholicism the national religion of Russia.
It appears you can really take the rules and adapt them to whatever you want. For example Teddy was a divorced pro abortion Catholic and is being celebrated as a Catholic role model. I would like to know more about the parish priest from his own church who he did not get along with Teddy. My guess is you will find a Catholic priest who was not going to be seduced by the Kennedys and subordinate Church doctrine to accomodate Teddy. Please let me know the name of the priest who heads Teddy’s actual church from which he did not want to be buried, this is the real church Christ intended, not the dog and pony show church that is sucking up to Teddy today.

I just saw Bill Henley at the whole foods store in Ardmore. He was walking around aimlessly hoping young woman would notice him, but I was the only one who did. He’s really small and old looking in person. Why cant they put that bow tied nebbish Hurricane Schwartz out to pasture and let Bill Henley take over? I’d even take Bolaris over Hurricane! Now they have a promotion with old pictures of Hurricane to try to make it like he invented weather forecasting. Everyone knows Larry Kane invented everything that is shown on the local news.
Why don’t they put Kane and Henley on together and make a gay focused newscast with a really long segment on pampered pets with carol erikson? Also focus on pastry shops, fashion news, arts and theatre. Larry would really enjoy presenting that kind of news, and its not just for gays, old ladies, woman and effeminine men would enjoy it too. An illustrious warrior, who managed to overcome the challenges which life presented to him. He’s a man admired for his achievements and noble qualities. I’ve been hospitalized MANY TIMES and don’t remember a time (in and out of the VA hospitals) when I had not been asked if I had a living will and if I would like to record that will. No pressure, or persuasive, tactics were ever used in that regard.
