Simple Common Sense May End The Swim Club Mess That Has Embarrassed Our Region
Somebody, a smart and savvy person, finally figured it out Sunday. After an embarrassing mess that brought negative imagery to this region, cooler heads prevailed and the Valley Swim Club decided to ask everyone back who was turned away. You’ve got to hope that the invite was genuine and that finally, this crisis will be over. I’m sure some of the clowns who write to this space, will find a way to polarize this issue. But the fact is very simple: This is 2009 and what happened at the swim club should never be happening in America, anywhere, anytime!
CHENEY
Finally, a scandal that has legs. The print and Congressional accusations that Dick Cheney ordered that the CIA hold back info on a super-secret spy program will be the motivation for a criminal investigation. Only eight members of Congress, are, by law, required to be briefed on super secret spy operations. So why would Cheney break a law by covering it up? That is, if he did what the reports allege. Watch this one carefully.
SPORTS WRITER’S PREMATURE BURIAL
Philly sportswriters (not all of them) are fickle. With most of them , the glass is half empty. After all, ten days ago they were buring the Phillies in a maze of nastiness. You would have thought that the Phils were in last place. These reporters are all pretty good writers, but they must feel that one bad losing streak, or a few bad series, will end a season. It used to be that great sportswriters brought you inside stories of the game. Now, some of them act liked spoiled fans who believe that you are only as good as your last at-bat. Bring back Bill Lyon already, and run Stan Hochman every day.

Club members should have been told by management that there were going to be 60 kids, regardless of race, invading their pool. I bet they pay more than $1900 per year per family. They paid for what they saw when they signed up, not a pool overrun by kids. Their beef is with VSC management. CSDC should be mad at VSC management, not the members. VSC members acted like private swim blub members would have acted anywhere in America. Blame VSC management for this mess. Their members should have voted on it first. If they were informed and on board, this would not have occurred. Again your bleeding heart liberal bent leads to the wrong conclusions.
As for Cheney scandal and Palin freedom, you again embarrass yourself with your conservative hatred. Larry, “you won” in November as Obama would say. Let it go. 2012 is 3 year away. No need to prosecute Cheney or berate Palin. They are now irrelevant. Focus your hatred on Huckabee, Romney and Jindal. They are likely to be the next candidate.

Hey I got the solution to the Valley Swim Club mess. Valley Swim Club should take the $1,900 the camp gave them to swim and buy Phillies’ tickets for all the kids, let them swim at the club everyday and buy them ice cream for their suffering. They can sit with Jill and I at the Phillies’ game as long as they are well dressed and well behaved. There will be chaparones from the camp right?

You bet, If I were a member of that swim club I would have been concerned. This is 2009 not 1965. Kids have guns now and drugs are rampant throughout the city. Teens sexually assaulting other teens in school. I could go on but people like you put blinders on and refuse to look at reality. Inner city youth experience much more aberrant behavior in life at a younger and younger age. I blame the parents, if there are any.

Larry, maybe the incident at the swim club was a little karma coming back to bite the black community after they voted overwhelmingly last November to openly discriminate against gays and lesbians in California. The black community voted overwhelmingly for discrimination–way more than any other race, including hispanics. Perhaps the black community should keep their mouths shut about discrimination until they actually stop doling out their own discrimination and preventing millions of Americans from realizing their civil rights.
Don’t you think it was religion, rather than race, which was the motivator in this instance???? BELIEFS, although people are free to BELIEVE as they wish, are the greatest motivator when it comes to depriving civilization the RIGHTS of individuals. IMVHO, it was not race which motivated the vote in California. Again, many of the myths having to do with fear and HIV are other tools used by religion (and other belief systems) to influence that particular vote.
I don’t know why you single out the “black community”??? It’s the job of each of us (no matter what the race) to open our mouths when it comes to “discrimination”!!! United we stand!!! Divided it takes a little more time to evolve!!=:)

As I pull out of Wilmington Train Station I think about the tough day ahead and my upcoming weekend. It’s tough to sell this universal healthcare plan to the American public.
