Phony Writers, Sonia in Spotlight, Gas Pains

First, in answer to the question: Do I have a problem with people posting with fictitious names? Generally, yes. But who cares if you want to hide behind some ridiculous name? That’s your call. By the way, some people are suggesting to me that some of the “post” writers are emotionally imbalanced. That’s an understatement.

SONIA

President Barack Obama’s choice of  federal appeals judge Sonia Sotomayor for the Supreme Court is a brilliant political move. After all, Republicans will not be eager to try and block the first Hispanic justice on the high court. The GOP cannot afford to remain a mostly white party! That’s just the truth. Besides, Sotomayer has awesome credentials.

GAS PAINS

So the cost of gas goes up, according to experts, because of a decrease in demand. The truth of that claim will be found out as the real summer driving season picks up. Will the price of gas go down when the pace of driving increases? Just wait.

PUNDIT ALERT

This time last year, some of the nation’s big political experts, including the right wing bloggers, were forecasting that Hillary Clinton would mount a convention challenge to Barack Obama. They were wrong. Beware the pundits, except for me. I truly believe that hindsight is 20-20.

NUKE NOTICE

The forecast: Madman in North Korea will take us to the brink, before he realizes that his nuke ambitions may eventually end his regime. Unfortunately, we may not have the will to stare him down when the time is right. Possible facing his own death, Kim may not care anymore. That’s the scary part. But will his own Generals let him get that far before they decided to take action?

Primary Election Risks -The “Wyoming Whine: Dick Cheney Should Be Ashamed

The Wyoming Whine

Former veep Dick Cheney is not looking good, to both Republicans and Democrats with his constant public attacks on the Obama administration. Make no mistake about it -Cheney has every right to speak out, but his cynical suggestions that Obama is making America less safe smell of bitterness and some jealousy.

And his actions also help to create imagery abroad that former leaders, with agendas, can take cheap shots, at without consequences. In this case, the consequences are a further evaporation of the little respect that remains for the former Veep, even from hard-line supporters.

Primary Risks?

Ok. Only 15 percent, maybe 20 percent will vote in the Pa. Primary Tuesday. What a miss! If you care about increased taxes. municipal waste, crime, law and disorder, it would be a good idea to vote. This election will decide your financial future (school board races), your legal rights (judges), the state of criminal cases (DA’s race in Philadelphia) and much more that affect you in a very direct and local way. Miss voting for a day in the sun? You’re on your own. Don’t complain about  these issues

NFL – How much power?

The NFL bunch is at it again, trying to stop efforts for legal sports gambling in Delaware. The NFL thrives on the “unspoken ” appeal of gambling. Point spreads are published everywhere. The NFL thrives on illegal gambling. If Delaware wants to make it legal, so what?

Some Fans Fickle Over Phillies

Before this weekend I was amazed again over eome of the fans who were already bemoaning a “lost” Phillies season. I mean, were these same fans around during the World Series? Of course, that was before Saturday’s double=header sweep of the Washington Nationals. Frontrunning is not an attractive attribute. Is it?

Taxing Philadelphia – TaliBAN? – First Bailout Mystery

TAXES

Mayor Nutter’s plan for a temporary property tax increase appears to be the only way out, short of even more drastic cuts in city budgeteering. But, perhaps there is one more option. How about a complete sweep by auditors of every single city department to once and for all, thin out the ranks of the bureaucracy. Once a temporary property tax increase is implemented, the Mayor’s own inspectors should do a top to bottom review of every city department to make sure that duplication is eliminated and that Philadelphia government becomes even more streamlined.

TALIBAN NUKE INTEREST

The Taliban, which should have been destroyed back in 2001 and 2002, is now a serious military threat to the weak and ineffective government of Pakistan. Just the thought of Taliban taking control of Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal, is enough to make you sick. Now is the time for the military to strategize what may be needed if the terrorists even get close to the nukes. This may be the most serious security threat to our nation.

BAILING ON BAILOUT -

There is still no full accounting of the first billions sent to banks in he fall of last year. None. The original bailouts were never fully detailed.  We have a horrible habit – short memories when it comes to demanding the truth.

IRAQ SCANDAL

It has been years in the making, but sources tell us to watch out for new revelationson over-spending and alleged corruption by KBR, the subsidiary of Halliburton, which has been under investigation for years. This is the company that at one time was charging anywhere from 40 to 100 dollars each to do laundry for GI’s in Iraq. It is also the company that has been accused of promising, but failing to clean up the drinking water for our troops. This may become the biggest over spending scandal of the war in Iraq.
