Dramatic Rescue – A Blog Crisis – And PETA – It is Not A Bread

RESCUE

The Navy Seals who ended the hostage drama off the coast of Somalia also scored a political victory for America. In this  24 hour news cycle of ours, media “experts’ in Europe were wondering if President Obama would pass his “first test.”  In this country today, you are only as good as your last act. The last act, in this case the take down  of punk pirates by US forces, sent a powerful message to the terrorist world – we will use force as necessary.

BLOG BLUES

I have made a decision to keep the emails “alive” on this site, despite recommendations from many friends  that a bunch of hateful malcontents had hijacked the site with racial and sexist comments, and that the entries should go away. I do this in the name of free speech, but I am really ticked off at the hate mongers who fill this site with invective. Unfortunately, they drown out some really great and thoughtful entries. Final word on this: sarcasm and bitterness and personal attacks on me are ok. Racism and any other form of bigotry are NOT. And comments about “age” are disgusting. By the way, one of the more gifted writers suggested I was a newsman  in 1946.  In 1946, I was just 4. So there!

PETA – NO-IT’S NOT A BREAD–

The PETA folks have taken off on VP Joe Biden because he got his new German Shepherd puppy from a kennel. PETA, as you know, is the organization that fights for animals rights to the point where they perform public acts for shock purposes. You went get any arguments on the case of animal protection here, but no one, not even PETA and their blood-splattering activists have the right to become anarchists. So, the VP did not adopt an animal who needs to be rescued! I’m sure Biden will take good care of the dog. In the meantime, support PETA if you’d like, until its members lose control.

CLAIM OF THE WEEK– Woody Harrelson says he attacked a photographer at La Guardia airport last Wednesday because he thought man was a “Zombie.” Harrelson said he just filmed a movie about being attacked by Zombies. He says he fought off the man because he was still “in character.”

PLUG – You’ll be hearing more about this, but NEXT Sunday, April 19th, The Comcast Network will be broadcasting an edition of my show Voice of Reason at 9:30 P.M. that will be devoted entirely to the Holocaust, Then and Now, with a special look at the genocide in the Sudan. It’s a piece of history that should be recorded and seen by your entire family.

President Obama was no where to be found in this entire Somali pirate episode. He realized it was a no win situation so rather than make a stand, he those to let it play out on its own. He lucked out this time.
Larry, its kind of ironic that your site has been hijacked by pirates and puppets, don’t you think? If you change the topics routinely and participate on a regular basis, there will be less drifting. As it is, meaningful comments end 24 hours after you change topics. Enter creativity. It then becomes personal between bloggers. It then gets ugly. You have the power to control this. Not by continuous idol threats but by changing topics. If you only have time to participate once a week. maybe you should shut it down.

Larry, oooj is right about the need to keep things fresh. If you would change blog topics more than once in a blue moon, you might get a higher ratio of substantive comments to bigoted sock puppets. It would also help if you would once again take up the standard for causes that you yourself caused others to believe in and to make sacrifices for, such as FREE AIR and the crusade to stop neighborhood gas stations from charging more than a 2% price differential from one another. I read week after week and wonder, “Why, Mr. Kane, hast thou forsaken us?”

    This week, you offer this:

You went get any arguments on the case of animal protection here, but no one, not even PETA and their blood-splattering activists have the right to become anarchists.

What does this mean? What does went mean? I can’t even tell whether you’re pro or con on animal rights. Perhaps it is the disagreement in number between subject and verb, where you write no one . . . have. That’s lousy grammar, and it makes me flinch.

And, Larry, say what you will about Woody, but ignore the zombie menace at your own peril. The infection is spreading. I suggest you pick up Max Brooks’ excellent Zombie Survival Guide. After the zombie apocalypse, we will need newsreaders, so look out for yourself.

Leo-Ms YAP says Larry is correct in using have, citing some rule of language.

OOOJ-I had read that Obama was very involved in the pirate situation, even signing off on the rescue part. You’re not on board with that,so to speak ?

Big Zombie gathering on South St. last night,I’ll have details at eleven.Eleven AM that is.

How many of you are watching the Celebrity Apprentice. It really is a terrific show. I am questioning my selection of Joan and Melissa Rivers. All they do is kvetch when they are not the center of attention. Imagine that. I particularly like being close to former Playmate Brande Roderick. She is spectacular. She may be the next Mrs Trump if she plays her cards right. The show itself is really a shameless self promotion where I proliferate the myth that I’m uber rich, important and relevant in 2009. Truth is I’m leveraged up the yazoo and generally disrespected. It does help the Trump brand. By the way, Larry, you’re fired!

YFAP, I had neither heard nor seen any Obama direct comment or directive on the pirates. If this is correct, perhaps it is a proactive step:
The military also is drawing up proposals to aid the fledgling Somalia government to train security forces and develop its own coast guard, said the officials, who requested anonymity. The plans will be presented to the Obama administration as it considers a coordinated U.S. government and international response to piracy, the officials said.

Larry your show er I mean your blog was hijacked from the git go last week. From the homo erotic insinuations to the concluding combat between two rabbits, it certainly was the week that wasn’t. It may have been an all time low on the blogometer. I did however change my mind about Larry Kaighn. I’ll give him some room to flourish as long as he stays out of Boca.

As for the Sonmali pirates, may Allah have mercy on their souls. Does the fact that they are from Africa limit them to only a few virgin maidens in heaven? Everything seems to be scarce in the State of Africa.
It’s also ironic that Joe Biden told us that Obama would be tested during his first weeks in office, and all of the sudden Obama leads the US out of pirate waters, safe and sound. Way to go Obama!
Now about that missile North Korea shot towards the US last week……….
Speaking of Biden, he purchased a dog (pure bred champion Shepard) from a dealer and was immediately chastised by a variety of groups and people. He responded by going to the pound and picking up a stray dog. What a politician…… No wonder he’s been a senator for so long .

Ed, no virgins for pirates. Piracy is against Islam. I read that Limbaugh tried to smear muslims and Obama by claiming the Somali pirates were muslim and that Obama had taken action against them although he had stated we are not at war with Islam. Of course, that’s like saying that arresting a priest for having sex with altar boys is a war against Christianity. Such fine points are lost on Limbaugh. If he weren’t so successful in peddling his uninformed hatred and bigotry–much like a latter day Goebbels–I’d be laughing at him.

Also, LK, I’m glad to see that you don’t disapprove of “The Donald” making sexist comments about his daughter’s mammary glands, etc. Your (erroneous) selective vision in this regard says a lot about your attitudes towards women. Cheers!

eoL, when are you ever going to get the difference between Rush Limbaugh (the entertainer) and news commentary by a legitimate source. Take this bogus “Larry Kane”. You go flying off the handle trying to defend yourself by appealing to a fictitious character who has infiltrated Larry’s blog persona. I loved the line “and I have homosexual friends as well”. How bouguois……..
    Liberals can’t win for losing.

Ed, whether Limbaugh’s an entertainer or not, he’s spreading hatred and bigotry, appealing to people’s lesser angels. He’s also the de facto head of the GOP at the moment. Accordingly, he deserves to be refuted when he tries Goebbels-type smears of people who are different.

As for me tangling with a possibly fictional LK, just let me worry about my own tar babies, Brer Rabbit.

Also, for those enamored of the Passion of the Christ:

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090413/ap_en_mo/people_mel_gibson

Another great religious conservative goes down before his principles, but not before making a lot of money hawking them to others.

BTW eoL, the Somali pirates don’t consider themselves as pirates. They consider themselves as the Somali Coastguard, protecting their waters from outside evil forces. If they can sell that to Allah they’re in…………

eol, That “Passion of Christ” thing must have really made an impact on you. I’ll have to see it one of these days……

    Leo, three points:
    1) Larry only checks this site once a week, if that. That is obviously a bogus Larry. Besides it doesn’t even sound like Larry. Perhaps puppets or pirates have truly hijacked this site.
    2) Larry would not admit to having homosexual friends even if he had them. That would force him to take a position. He avoids all position taking. He simply states the obvious.
    3) Why liberals are so concerned about Rush Limbaugh is a mystery to me. The AARP crowd listens to him religiously. The far right concur with his point of view. Beyond that, not many registered Republicans even listen to what he has to say. You are over-generalizing. Maybe comparing him to Tokyo Rose would be a better comparison than to Goebbels. Talk about overreacting…

That number 11 is not me.
