My Choice For President Is… And Message to The Mayor

That was just a teaser. You’ll never get that information from me. But I do want to leave you with some election day info.

So far, the amount of $$ spent on the Presidential campaign comes to $8.00 per vote. What does that say? It says that the networks should devote an hour a week in prime time for the ten weeks leading up to the election, and allow the candidates to go at each other without a moderator! How about that for a gut check?

Early voting. Congress should mandate it as national policy.

527 groups. The filth in the last part of this campaign was the worst. One 527 group resurrected the old-news Reverend Wright stuff. It was clearly racial. Another, supporting the other side, questioned the survival rate for John McCain, and asked viewers to imagine a President Palin.

Endorsements. This campaign proved once and for all that endorsements are meaningless and loaded with vanity. The only one that may have had impact was Colin Powell’s.

MESSAGE TO MAYOR NUTTER. Conventions: We need one city for both political conventions, a month apart. All they have to do is change the floor plan. That city should be Philadelphia. This is a no-brainer. It will save millions in security, millions for the media, and countless aggravation. The 2012 GOP AND DEMOCRATIC CONVENTIONS  SHOULD BOTH BE HELD IN PHILADELPHIA.  More on that later this week.

MOST INTERESTING LOCAL RACES TO WATCH. The famed former FOP union leader Rich Costello running against John Perzel. THIS COULD BE CLOSE.

In Western Pa.. legendary John Murtha could be defeated. If so, he would be the only Democratic incumbent that was ousted this year from Congress. Murtha faces payback by suggesting that some voters in his district are racist.

Have a great day. Vote!

Thanks for all of your courageous reporting and interesting insight leading up to this historic election Larry! I can’t wait to hear your platitudes after Obama’s big win tonight.

After two years of this election nonsense it’s time for us all to come together and give Obama a chance to show us what he’s got. I hope to God we are all pleasantly surprised, maybe he will really be a transformative figure and a great leader- everything is possible in America!

I voted, Larry. I wore a blue suit, blue shirt, and blue tie. Let’s keep PA blue!

When Obama wins, we’ll be doing shots of Crown Royale. Hillary will be there, too, ready for a cabinet position or an increased leadership role in the Senate.

We elitists are primed! Let’s stop borrowing money from China to pay for tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy. Let’s end the Republican lies. Ketchup is NOT a vegetable!

Also, I’ve come up with a McCain/Palin-style chant for the FREE AIR campaign: BLOW, BABY, BLOW! It’s just as cool as DRILL, BABY, DRILL.

BLOW, BABY, BLOW! BLOW, BABY, BLOW!

Would you explain to me why it’s racial when whites DON’T vote for Obama, but it’s NOT racial when African Americans “come out in record breaking numbers” to vote for Obama i.e. NOT for McCain? Isn’t THAT racial? What are the percentages of African Americans who voted for each…. the count was put out for how many whites had voted by early election/absentee and it was determined at that point that it wasn’t a racial election based on the number of whites who voted for Obama.

    November 4th, 2008 | 11:58 am

Theresa, I think it’s a mistake to reduce it purely to race on the part of African-Americans who are supporting Obama. That in itself is an absurd oversimplification. Could it be that the policies Obama is proposing are much more attractive to the bulk of African-Americans? That the policies McCain is proposing are not attractive to them? That the hate McCain’s recent rallies drummed up turns off African-American voters? It’s not the same thing as rural whites saying that they won’t vote for Obama because of his race or the fact that his middle name is “Hussein,” irrespective of the candidates’ substantive positions. That is racism.

Case in point.Spot on.Anti-Obama remarks are mere bait for some.Response time is a bit slow but, hey,it has been a long election cycle.

    At least it’s not Hillary…
What do you think the Dems first agenda will be:
    1) raise taxes
    2) government controled healthcare
    3) gay marriage
    4) run from Iraq
    5) all the above

  29. Leo Bloom
    November 4th, 2008 | 11:47 pm

They still call it the White House, but that’s a temporary condition. Can you dig it, CC?

    7) All of the above plus require stringent performance-robbing emissions controls on NASCAR vehicles.

    HA! WE DID IT!
Now you conservative cynics have to suck it up like the rest of us have had to for the last 8 years.

We haven’t quite locked in the gay marriage thing out here, yet; looks like it’s pretty close–

Oops! Looks like the hot tub is ready–time to PAR-TEE!

As John McCain said, the country has clearly spoken. You can blame Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld for this debacle. You do have to give the Dems credit. They created a whole new voting base to insure a victory.
Sad day for all Americans. Democrats controlling White House and Congress. Bonnie and Clyde will be running the country. 2 years from now people will be saying Barrack who? Let’s hope he has some nads but there has been no indication of that in his 130 days in the Senate.
    3 first cabinet appointees:
Secretary of Education – Bill Ayers
Secretary of HUD – Tony Rezko

If Obama runs the country with the same level of precision and success he ran his campaign then we are in great shape. Let’s come together and give him a chance. Remember how united we were post 9/11? This is an opportunity to feel that way again and get the econmy fixed and the wars resolved with victory.
