Confessions of An Angry Political Addict — And Does Anyone Know a Special Prosecutor?

Before I go into my campaign rant, does anyone know a Special Prosecutor? If the Justice Department or Congress does not appoint a special prosecutor to examine the robber barons whose orgy of excess got us into this mess, than I would wonder; WHY NOT? Some choices: Ed Rendell, Tom Ridge, Former Governor Tom Kean. We need answers. This can’t happen again.

Now my notes on the campaign.

The campaign began in early 2007, and will be over in three weeks. In total time, it has been the longest political campaign in American history, and frankly, it was too long, too expensive, and insanely bitter. As a confessed political addict, I will still have a tremendous letdown when this is over, but there are a few things I won’t miss.

Anger. I am disgusted with the prickly, and intolerant mood in this campaign. People, maybe you, are too sensitive. And I am too, about a few things. I am tired, sick and tired of the innuendos about Barack Obama by Sarah Palin, and seconded in a more careful way by John McCain. I am waiting for John to “Whip his you know what” in the coming debate, because John McCain has not been a good debater. I am sick of the whining by some people that a vote for McCain must make you a racist. Chances are that some racists will vote for McCain, but to suggest that millions of people are racists because they vote for McCain is absurd. I am fed up with some radio showmen who want to divide the people over this campaign. I would also like to see news organizations stop labeling themselves. Just REPORT THE NEWS!

I am frankly disturbed over the complaints about voter fraud before they are even proven. Let’s face it: there isn’t much difference between the ACORN efforts and GOP attempts to purge voters from the rolls.

I think whoever is producing John McCain’s commercials should give out refunds. They are dismal and not uplifting. The only problem I have with Obama’s commercials– they are repeated so often that I can recite each line.

I have enjoyed some of McCain’s Town Hall speeches, but can he find a substitute for “my friends.” How about, “my fellow Americans.” That’s original. Barack Obama is a great orator, but I have to admit Joe Biden has become a superstar on the stump. . His speech in Scranton Sunday was a masterpiece.

I want to know where McCain’s friends are? Charlie Crist of Florida says he doesn’t have time to actively campaign with McCain. Tom Ridge has been fairly quiet. Rudy Guliani has been low key. I’ll tell you where they are. They are hiding and angry at the campaign. They heve Palin-envy.

Imagine where McCain would be now if he had chosen Ridge or Joe Lieberman? And how about those geniuses who said a Obama-Clinton ticket would be unbeatable?

Some other angst. Where is Colin Powell? Shouldn’t he be endorsing someone here? Millions are waiting? My friends tell me he was going to endorse Barack, but is playing it safe. Look for the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News to endorse Obama NEXT SUNDAY. Senator Chuck Hagel will endorse him in a few days.

Do endorsement’s matter? They could, in a close race.

On another note: has anybody seen Dick Cheney?

Has anyone noticed that Ed Rendell is really working his back off for Obama, not just going through the motions? And you can ditto that for Michael Nutter.

We have 20 days left. One debate. Two real candidates. And two, Ralph Nader and Bob Barr, who are running with one goal in mind – unabated personal vanity.

Have fun everyone and keep your cool. The country will survive.

Two candidates who are running for personal vanity? Larry, that is among the most lame, one-sentance summary I have heard of 3rd party politics in a long time. It makes you come across as not very intelligent. Even though I voted (by absentee ballot) for one of the major party candidates, I find it sad that you have nothing more to say about the value of 3rd party politics. It would be great to have more options in politics, instead of the two old stand-bys. So why make a little quip about something as important as diversifying the political landscape. Disappointing Larry …

I’ll second what Curtis said. We need more choices, and it’s rigged against us. As far as I’m concerned, the Democrats & Republicans are 2 sides of the same coin, and are equally responsible for the various messes we are in (economic, high taxes, skyrocketing debt, crumbling infrastructure, entitlement bankruptcy). Both McCain & Obama have not acted responsibly.

Race pimps to the left of me, fat cats to the right… Even though I probably will vote McCain, I think Nader has a good grasp of the issues, just not a lot of special interest (donor) support. The criticisms of McCain as erratic are dead-on. I’ve looked at Obama and while I would hire him for any private sector job, as a politician running for President his resume is swiss cheese.

Larry, you obviously missed it last week when McCain tried to find a substitute for “my friends” and landed on “my fellow prisoners.” Google it. He addressed a crowd as his “fellow prisoners.” I’m worried about his mental stability.

Larry I’ve never heard you complain so much and say so little. Most of your observations have been hashed and rehashed over and over by everybody under the sun. Your Palin-envy theory however is very amusing. All these big shot Republicans are shying away from the campaign because of Palin’s popularity? She was the only chance McCain had to infuse some excitement into an otherwise lackluster run for the presidency. The fact that her perky quirky persona wasn’t backed up with political substance has doomed McCain’s chances. Why even the “racists” that post on your blog are resigned to voting for Obama. Larry, if I were you I would go and get a copyright on Palin-envy phrase. Next time around I’m sure we’ll be hearing a lot more from her. Maybe we will see a cat fight. A Clinton-Palin showdown. Meow….. !!! Now that would be a debate to watch. Hey Larry is it too early to start talking about the 2012 election? Maybe we should wait a week or two Huh?

Larry, the real issue is that for sometime neither party has offered an attractive candidate. It’s all about name recognition and party support. Furthermore, both parties are polar opposites. Dems too liberal; GOP too conservative. There is no middle ground. There are no centrist candidates. So we hold our nose and vote party lines. Nadar and Barr may not be the answer but neither are McCain and Obama…
Having your own blog site is not vanity?

Larry, I’m looking for a blogger to help promote my campaign down the stretch. My friend, with your help I think I can turn the tide which is currently running against me. Your wisdom and knowledge of the PA electorate would be immensely beneficial to both me and Sarah. My friend, I am begging you please help me!
This upstart young’en with no experience is kicking my butt. I’m a war hero and a maverick for christ’s sake. Obama in the meantime has been hanging out with known terrorists, convicted felons, and preachers who actually hate America. I mean his wife doesn’t really like America that much. His drunken African father deserted him. His mother dropped him off at her parents house never to return. His drug and alcohol use was hardly mentioned throughout the campaign. Larry, these are the talking points that I want to get across to the average gun toting, white, church goer in PA. BTW I have decided to spell my name without the H, I thought it might make me look more contemporary. My friend, what do you think?

WOW the Inquirer and Daily News will endorse Obama who would of guessed, that is some great reporting.
Yes Ed Rendell is really working hard and ditto to Mr McNutt, the big story is who Mr Kane is endorsing,we cannot take the wait anymore.
Good point that a vote against Obama is racist that is like a vote against McCain is anti American.

    October 13th, 2008 | 7:45 pm

Ok….ok…… OOOOOOK!!! Jon, I’ll ask Larry to help out with the campaign. Larry I’ve seen your show on CN6 and I think you have an absolutely wonderful grasp of the political scene. With your local knowledge our team is prepared to offer you “free air” at many locations throughout the metropolitan area. We will also notify you if the price of gas fluctuates more than two cents between neighborhood stations. What we need from you is a way to connect Obama with the highly controversial ACORN group. These sleazy people who “work” for Obama. They are on record signing up one guy at least thirty or fifty times to vote. This is the mind set that pervades the Obama campaign. Since you ride SEPTA so often we were hoping that you could call us when you saw the ACORN people plying the depths of the Market Street el. I’ll take you moose hunting if we win……

I think Larry has left the building. I have hired Arsenial Hall to conduct my cheerleading effort in PA. The cheese steak eating Ed Rendell has too much baggage. The man knows every cheese steak joint from here to Eire. Arsinio will help me in the fried chicken and collard green areas of PA. The canole and ravioli vote is worrisome however and the knish and perogie sector needs some attention. Joe Biden has the ham and cabbage group under control but the General Tsos group is up in arms. I definatly have the sushi crowd eating out of my hand but I have conceded the Whale blubber vote to McCain and Palin.

Our founding fathers would be very disappointed with the way we conduct elections today. Two years is too long to carry on a campaign. I am sick of it all. There will be no climax to this vote, only a sigh of capitulation will be uttered by the majority of citizens who actually care about this country. When Obama wins and the blacks take to the streets in OJ celebratory fashion shouting the “brother and sister” are now running the White House, I can only pray that Marion Barry, William Ayres, Rev Wright, Al Sharpton, Louis Farrakhan and Tony Rezko are not standing nearby when he takes the oath of office. I know Jesse Jackson will be there, holding his hand out……

Voting for Obama feels wierd. I’d like to warn those who are considering it, be prepared to feel like you just took a giant blind leap of faith. You will not get a warm fuzzy feeling if you are not already an Obama supporter. You’ll wake up in disbelief, as if you did something very wreckless and dangerous.

I see Jesse Jackson is out there watching his homeboy Obama’s back. Jesse really did want to cut off Obama’s nuts, and he’s proving that with his recent statements regarding Zionism. There is a very dark side to minority politicians, just ask Malcolm X how much he trusted his brothers from a different mother. It’s sad that Malcolm had so much promise but was assininated from within. It’s hard not to draw metaphorical conclusions as to what Jesse is trying to do to ruin Obama. What do you think Larry?

Obma has past the point of no return. This guy has made himself vulnerable to all sorts of evil doings. My only question is why would he put his life on the line without ever accomplishing anything? All the man does is give speeches. If America wanted to break the racial barrier for president then Colin Powell would have been the ideal candidate, not this vagabond self proclaimed drug and alcohol abuser who has no experience and no idea what it will take to run this country.

Perhaps there are SOME out there who are beginning to get ‘the picture’. The following is a narrative taken from Sunday Morning’s televised ‘Meet The Press’. and the author is employed by none other than the Washington Post!! Yeah……the Washington Post of New York and Los Angeles Times fame!! Must say that I’m dually impressed………………

From Sunday’s Televised ‘Meet the Press’ Senator Obama was asked
about his stance on the American Flag. Obama Explains National Anthem Stance

Sun, 07 Sept. 2008 11:48:04 EST, General Bill Ginn’ USAF (ret.) asked Obama to explain why he doesn’t follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.

The General also stated to the Senator that according to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171… During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. At the very least, ‘Stand and Face It’

Senator Obama Live on Sunday states, ‘As I’ve said about the flag pin, I don’t want to be perceived as taking sides, Obama said. ‘There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song ‘I’d Like To Teach the World To Sing.’ If that were our anthem, then I might salute it.’We should consider to reinvent our National Anthem as well as to redesign our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love. It’s my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren. If we as a Nation of warring people, should conduct ourselves as the nations of Islam, whereas peace prevails. Perhaps a state or period of mutual concord between our governments. When I become President, I will seek a pact or agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity, and a freedom from disquieting oppressive thoughts. We as a Nation have placed upon the nations of Islam an unfair injustice. My wife disre spects the Flag for many personal reasons. Together she and I have attended several flag burning ceremonies in the past, many years ago. She has her views and I have mine’. Of course now, I have found myself about to become the President of the United States and I have put aside my hatred. I will use my power to bring CHANGE to this Nation, and offer the people a new path of hope. My wife and I look forward to becoming our Country’s First Family. Indeed, CHANGE is about to overwhelm the United States of America.

    WHAAAAAAAT the Hell !!!

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, you heard it right. This could possibly be our next President.

    I, for one, am speechless.

It’s kind of a sad night. In America a war hero like McCain use to have a happy ending to his life story, and it seemed possible just weeks ago. Hopefully Obama will help us turn things around, the country really needs to come together after the election and try to fix this economy, its now gone way beyond partisan wrangling, we’re facing an unprecented crisis, we need to stop pissing at each other and work together. It’s time fo everyone to sacrifice accross all socio-economic lines. The CEO and his driver and butler are now in the same boat, just wearing different cloths.

George, don’t dispare yet. There are three things in our favor:
    1) Media is consciously trying to bloat lead to 8-12% to make us think it’s over. Reality is more like 3-5% difference. Don’t fall for that trick. Republicans will vote. Democrats are less dependable voters. Pray for rain on election day.
    2) People that thought they had settled on Obama are starting to rethink that decision. His ties to extremists, terrorists and low lifes are starting to resonate. Acorn connection make be straw that broke Obama’s back. No one questions McCain’s patriotism.
    3) ‘Spending’ is Obama’s middle name. If McCain can continue to hammer him on spending. Throw in an unchecked Democratic Congress led by Pelosi and Reid and you’ll have a runaway budget. Someone needs to keep Pelosi/Reid in check. Obama doesn’t have the stones. McCain may need Viagra but he has stones.

Besides the Phillies are going to the World Series.

Obama is really the least of our problems. The real problem is a clear cut majority of Democrats in the Congress led by Bonnie and Clyde (Pelosi and Reid). The problem is that they will walk all over Obama.
