It is amazing to me how defeated candidates reach down deeply inside their soul, Here’s an email from Robert Traynham, Washington Bureau for CN 8, The Comcast Network. He was there at the Hillary speech on Saturday.
“Amazing crowd. Feels like an Obama crowd in terms of the feverish pitch in respect to her supporters yelling her name.
Also, its interesting that she started this campaign with the saying that she is a leader that just so happens to be a woman, but she ended it by saying I am a woman who ran for president.
I emailed the Obama campaign and asked about their reaction the speech and they said that they where very very pleased with it and that they can understand what she is going thru. Its very hard for her.
Had she would have have ran this campaign the way she ended it — she would have been the nominee.

MORE VEEP BUZZ -
Some of you have suggested that I am just pushing our region in potential VP candidates.
WRONG!
First of all, Ed Rendell and Joe Biden are legit contenders. Rendell brings a big state and the signature of a former Clinton backer. Biden is the shadow Secretary of State in this country. Both would be huge for Obama. The other name is Tom Ridge. No question that he has the credentials on the Republican side. There are many Veep possibilities, but these three contenders are the real thing.

PHILLIES IN CONTROL –
The Phillie’s June drama is giving us a lot to laugh about in a time of economic craziness, high gas prices and rebate checks. Whatever happened to those rebate checks? Everything is clicking, including the turnstiles. So far it has been a fantastic year. Enjoy it. What I DO notice is that the national press is ignoring this great team. Local sportswriters are finally going into positive territory. It’s about time they awakened from their Negadelphia Slump. Look around and smell the roses guys!

SICK OF SICKO DRIVERS
Heat wave is bringing out the worst tail gating, on your rear, speedo, sicko drivers. If you’re one of them, get a life, or save one. What is it with the speeders? Too much beer, or maybe putting the petal to the medal is a cry out for help! I’m sick of it. Worst locations: I-95 and the Skuylkill X-Way. There is little or no enforcement on these highways. Cars can kill as fast as bullets. Like the pro-GUN folks like to say, it is not the weapons but the people using them.
Robert should expect a call from J.R..I think the Phils are 4th or 5th in the S.I. “power rankings “,so somebody’s paying attention.
It’s not the bullets, it’s the people getting in fromt of them. Stay out of the left hand lane. And, for balance, knock off the double and triple lane changes.
The return of the KEM. It is so good to have been right all along about the campaign. However, we have learned some very disturbing things about the democratic party.
While I believe that we need to heel the party I also feel that it is a big mistake to forget the attitudes about some of our members.
I personally supported Rendell for a long time, even way back to the District Attorney days, but he has shown me that perhaps he is not the right person for the V.P. spot.
I still remember his comments about some whites not being ready to vote for a black candidate. I am certainly not suggesting that Rendell is a racist or was playing the race card.
However, I am concerned that as governor with full knowledge of the horrible attitudes dwelling in our state, what has he been doing over the years to deal with this problem?
I truly do not know that answer. Perhaps he had tried much, but if not what does he mean to me personally on the ticket? NOTHING!
Based on the needs of this nation, if Rendell can only point out those serious problems without putting his butt on the line to deal with them then he doesn’t really fit the Obama profile and doesn’t deserve the V.P. slot. Why reward him when others would make a much better overall fit?
Larry, you remembered to hit spell check, but you forgot to make sure you had the right words. Homonyms may cut it on the TelePrompTer, but they don’t cut it in print. You’ve outdone yourself. Peddle to the metal, my man, like Barack on the road to the White House.

Larry, I watched your show last night- pretty good. However, as I started to fall asleep I started thinking about Bob Shiefer from CBS. Didn’t he do a great job with evening News before Katie Couric? Well, now that there’s a vacancy at CBS3 and becuase of the Larry Mendte/ Alica Lane scandals, they are the ones that need “a voice of reason” to get back on track. I say you touch up the grey, take a couple shots of botox and strike a 1-year deal to get that news shop back on track. It would be perfect with the election coming up as you would be at a huge advantage versus the local anchors and could get the “Gets” come this fall when people are really paying attention. Sell yourself as the local Bob Shiefer, and the news director will be begging you to come back. One last big blast on the local scene and then you really go out in style Larry. It’s a sincere recommmendation, after watching you last night I’m convinced your senior status would add some gravitas to what has become a Tabloid news program.

JR, she gets little thanks because she should have given that speech about a month ago. And she didn’t go above and beyond: she did what she had to to salvage her own career from the shambles it was rapidly becoming.

Tailgaters are not the whole problem. Congested driving requires cooperation. And a clueless driver in the left lane is just as dangerous as someone who is in a hurry ( speeding ) . When they meet, and everyone is forced to pass on the right, that is where there is a problem. Drivers should all be in the right lane unless they are passing. I though there were rules about this. When they are done passing they should move over. I appreciate the convention of a speeder with his left turn signal on. It lets you know that he wants to get by without needing to tailgate. Too bad the assumption here is one of right instead of a priveledge.

Ross Perot influenced millions of people to vote for him in the 1990s, crazy or not. He gave a Democrat the White House before. He’ll do it again. If the right wing could make up a bunch of garbage about Kerry and confuse people with it, don’t doubt for a second that Perot can’t do the same thing. Money talks. And Newsweek legitimized him.
Joltin Joe Lieberman as McCain’s VP? Larry, that would be an irresistible ticket for you! You’d have to drop the facade of independence and just endorse it.
