The Inside Story On What The Advisers Are Telling Hillary

This report is put together with information from Clinton campaign insiders, including people from our region involved in the campaign. The report is telling in that it shows the level of anguish and debate now going on inside the troubled Clinton camp.

Basically, there are three options under review.

ONE: The candidate stays in until June 3rd, declares a moral victory, endorses Obama and leaves the race.

TWO: Senator Clinton drops out after securing a place for Michigan and Florida delegates at the Democratic Convention.

THREE: She stays in the race through the convention, even if Obama goes over the top in delegates.

The logical choice is number one. Hillary Clinton is a powerful candidate and a fighter. The fight in her is what makes her attractive to her followers, and even Obama supporters who respect her will power and resolve. If the insiders, those closest to her prevail, she might decide to stay in through the convention, a move that would be risky to her continuing political career.

What most people, especially in media, fail to understand is how her continuing imagery as a battler who will not quit, will help her in the long run. The math says she cannot win now, but America is all about fighting the odds. That comeback fight is respected. Obama has gained such respect by being so resilient with all that controversy erupting during the middle of key primaries. Even in losing, Hillary Clinton can carve out a continuing legend of a person who will not be denied. This is just good politics.

Speaking of good politics: Who is designing John McCain’s schedule. He should be criss crossing the nation like there is no tomorrow, But his schedule, from this reporter’s perspective, is much too light. He needs Tom Ridge involved in that campaign right away. Ridge will give him  much-needed advice on how to appeal to Democrats. Ridge was twice elected Governor in a  Democratic state. He would also be a fantastic choice for Vice President.

TV NOTES - Local stations in Philadelphia are again paying lip service to the Presidential campaign. 30 seconds of video, without sound, doesn’t satisfy the public’s craving for information on this contest. Wake up TV people, or continue to lose audience. This year, it’s all about the election.

TOM LAMAINE — The longtime KYW TV weatherman is retiring. Tom is ageless. He was a pleasure to work with. And I wish him well.

    FOUR: She “Vince Fosters” Obama.

This was reported to me by someone who used to be a Clinton insider before he became a liability, a liability who unexpectedly met with a serious accident.

The “fight” in her, which is driven by ego rather than principle, is also what makes her so unattractive to everyone except her followers.

    Hello Larry,
your right Hillary Clinton is a fighter without quit,SO STEP 3 works, you never know what can happen, the american blue collar people see Hillary as the never quit people they are and the numbers are growing.
obama and edwards made some seen tonight right out of the book of vince mcmahon and fake wrestling,is this what obama calls the new politics,i was waiting for hulk and andre the giant to come on the stage, and Hillary will whip them to.

that edwards and obama fiasco was so staged and phony and planned for weeks,i quess that’s the obama new politics all fluff and talk, and what has john edwards won lately, the more important endorsement will be his wife’s.
let’s go to kentucky and see what the blue collar americans think of that phony balony high school play in michigan last night.
Larry,i had flashbacks of edwards and john kerry with a suntan,Help i think i have ptsd.

    Larry,
You’re spot on about Tom Lamaine he came across as a gentleman and he is in the top ten list of weathermen in phila.tv.history.
Of course number one Weatherman of all time is channel six’s Jim O’Brien without question.

JR, you’re foaming at the mouth. Obama and Edwards pulled off a media coup. Of course it was planned. And it was effective at changing the subject and reminding everyone that Hillary is still trying to play games five, six, and seven of that seven-game series in which Obama won the first four. It’s not “politics as usual” to have good timing.

Those Michigan voters you heard booing when Edwards praised Hillary? Those people didn’t have an option to vote for Obama. Those were voters who wanted their voices to be heard, which won’t happen if Hillary gets her way on her Quixotic quest to change the rules to 2210 after game four ended.

Superdelegates continue to come to Obama. The writing’s on the wall. Hillary is throwing good money after bad.

By the way, did you see the Daily Show last night? Jon Stewart skewered her over her claim that an eleven-year old in Kentucky sold his bike and video games in order to donate to her campaign. Then she wasted it all on confetti in West Virginia. Something for him to think about as he walks to school and back home, where he has no video games. Hillaryious!

    Larry,
The dog and pony show last night by the barry obama team is the new politics,to humiliate your opponent,is a dangerous way to play and always comes back to haunt them.
Larry,Hillary deserved better than that, obama may have all the fluff and talk, but the fact is Hillary is the stronger democratic candidate if not in ‘08 then it will be ‘012.
The obama team will be political road kill in november if they get that far.

  9. May 15th, 2008 | 7:02 am

So Edwards held out until Barry promised him the position of Att’y General in the shadow (imaginary )Obama cabinet.Hillary should stay in the race ’til Denver & when Barry gets swamped in November she’ll be positioned for a run in 2012.JR,you’rre message seems to be a bit mixed these days. What’s up ?

I think Hillary is fighting so hard because she will be an even more powerful senator, especially if the president is McCain. She is trying to wound Obama with the white working men so they will vote for McCain and Hillary will be much more relavant than if there was a president Obama, who would certainly and wisely ignore her and Bill.

John McCain, Hillary Clinton and Barrack Obama are walking down the street together. They happen upon a homeless person.
McCain stops, gives him his business card, tells him to come into his office and offers to help him find a job. He reahes into his pocket and hands the man a $20. He smiles.
Not to be outdown, Hillary Clinton stops by the next homeless person. She give him the address for the welfare office. She reaches into John McCain’s pocket and pulls out another $20. She gives the homeless person $5 and keeps $15 for administrative fees. She smiles.
Next homeless person they encounter, Barrack Obama decides its his turn for action. Her embraces the homeless person. He tells him to have hope and that change is coming. He smiles.
    That’s the difference between candidates.

  19. Leo Bloom
    May 16th, 2008 | 6:17 am

Aesop, you forgot the part where John McCain pours a bucket of toxic sludge into the homeless guy’s lungs and then pummels him about the face and neck and then refuses to give him a job because he doesn’t have a fixed address or a good credit rating.

And Hillary would be reaching in Cindy McCain’s pocket, not John’s. John doesn’t have that kind of money to be throwing around.

  20. Aesop
    May 16th, 2008 | 7:02 am

The other thing I forgot to mention is the only people in this story get tax stimulus checks are the homeless.

  21. George
    May 16th, 2008 | 7:02 am

Aesop, you forgot the part where Obama then sips a glass of Chardonay wine, cups his hand and farts in it- and smells it- then a warm smug feeling overwhelms him as he reassures himself that empty platitudes really do stike a chord with the poor. He also recognizes that he has never created a job for anyone, so he has no idea how to help the guy find work, but that’s okay. Obama just takes another whiff from his cupped hand and says again- change is coming!

  22. Leo Bloom
    May 16th, 2008 | 7:07 am

Funny thing, George, is that McCain also never created a job for anyone other than a bunch of Chinese operatives who “programmed” him in captivity in Vietnam. Maybe McCain would suggest that the homeless guy marry an heiress whom he could later call a “trollop” and a “c*&t” in front of a number of people.

George, the GOP falsely smears Obama as a Muslim. But they also smear him as a “Chardonnay-drinking liberal.” Only Muslims don’t drink alcohol, especially the fundamentalists. So I think the GOP needs to work on making its slurs more consistent.

  26. May 16th, 2008 | 8:26 am

Larry, YAP’s right. We need you and your network of insiders to get us the real scoop on whether McCain underwent psychological programming when he was in captivity.

Welcome to the GOP Pat! It’s a great place and we’re happy to have you. I’d offer you a glass of Chardonay, but given my earlier comments we’re only serving Merlot today. However, we own a winery and produce great quantities of Chardonay and secretly enjoy it. We also profit by selling it to the growing number of smug fart-smelling San Francisco liberal intellectuals, who buy it from us with other people’s tax money.

  34. Leo Bloom

To those who doubt that John McCain was programmed in Vietnam/China, think about it. If you’re the Red Menace and you capture a high value prisoner whose father is a ranking military officer with political insider ties, what are you going to do with the prisoner? Feed him tea and crumpets? He’s a Chinese sleeper agent. If elected, he’ll capitulate to Red China’s policy demands.

Leo-My guess is that the “Manchurian Candidate ” had a profound effect on you.The reality is that historically.there’s no love lost between Vietnam & China .And while war may make strange bedfellows, the degree of cooperation probably didn’t exceed shipping & an air base sanctuary. If you insisted he’d been sent to Russia & beaten for his knowledge of the A-4 (or A-6 ,whatever )I wouldn’t argue. But then he would’ve been shipped off to some Gulag & we’d never have heard of him again.

  41. George
    May 16th, 2008 | 7:04 pm

Leo. I hope you’re kidding about the programmed stuff, that’s just not right and is disrespectful to his, his father’s, and grandfather’s service to our country. The Vietnamese tried to exploit his stature by offering him early release, and he didnt take the deal. Making fun of his temper, his wife and policies are fair, but please don’t disparage an American Hero who’s service and sacrifice was significant and should not be distorted with lies any more than the crackpot lies that are being told about Obama.

Hey JR, I know you admire Chelsea, but McCain’s dauther is smart and also a fun party girl. Check out Meagan McCain’s blog! And of course Cindy McCain’s husky dog eyes are remarkable, and while she doesnt wear pants suits she is attractive, if your into what a Barbie doll’s mother might look like.

Can we send him back for re-programming?

YAP (YEP as LB affectionately calls you) you are right about the China/Vietnam lack of connection. Clearly sadistic NV and Russian interogators worked him over pretty good. I’m not buying this Manchurian Candidate thing. He may be programmed by his handlers but not the VC.

  44. Leo Bloom
    May 16th, 2008 | 10:07 pm

George, I’m just getting warmed up on McCain. American war hero? Hardly. Just wait until the swiftboating starts on him. Did you also know he was given posh accommodations and access to Vietnamese and Russian prostitutes while he was in VC “captivity” and giving up troop positions? That he denounced God and called for God to damn America? There’s a 527 group set to run ads about that. And about how he got a Purple Heart from contracting the clap from one of them and had a kid with one of them? Of course, the programming enters into it, too. He’d obviously enter into a policy of appeasement towards communist governments. After all, he did already say he’d talk to Hamas before he said Obama shouldn’t. Etc.
