Don’t Hold Your Breath On Al Gore Internet Buzz

The world wide web can be the home of bad or misguided information , also known as PURE SPECULATION. So, here we go again.

Through the creative minds of some bloggers, and some actual political experts, comes the newest web buzz on campaign 08 and it is all about Al Gore.

This is the scenario: Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are deadlocked at the Democratic National Convention. The first ballot produces no winner. Al Gore is proposed on the second ballot, emerges as a unity candidate and asks one of the two combatants to join him on the ticket.

Well placed sources in our region say, “Don’t hold your breath.” It will never happen.

The logic on the Gore scenario is very clear. Gore is not passionate about the Presidency. The Obama-Clinton battle will be resolved before the convention. There is no way that millions of Democrats and Independents who have taken part in the process will accept a convention “deal” that takes it out of the hands of the people. It is as simple as that.

But the “buzz” does prompt an observer to take a harder look at the dilemma facing the Democratic party because of this very close contest.

If any candidate, Obama or Clinton, tries to circumvent party rules or sneak in with legal or questionable maneuvering, you can be sure that the next President will be John McCain. And that could happen anyway.

THIS IS THE YEAR OF THE “VOTER.”

If the excitement of this very democratic process is tainted, there will be a heavy political price to pay.

The Al Gore thing is crazy, almost as crazy as my posting on this blog at 1:30am,just to beat Jack Russell to the punch. Thanks to him, I now equate Jack Russell Terriers with Hillary. If Barrack were a dog he’d be a grey hound and McCain of course a bulldog. Enough inane talk from me. Larry, thanks for the format, I enjoy reading your column- however my wife thinks I’ve been chatting up woman on the internet, I should probably tell her there’s another man- and its Larry Kane.

hello Larry, hey George that is some very funny stuff especially the wife part,Larry i agree with George,I enjoy your report too it’s the best.
Larry one thing you said Al Gore is not passinate about the presidency, well was or is George Bush ever been passinate about being the president.
the Gore buzz is fairyland dream, but if i had a choice i would vote for Gore over Clinton and Obama any day of the week,Al Gore is a great american and a nobel winner.
but a better dream is Gore taking over the country in 2001, how much better off americans would be,and not have to live in a eight year nightmare, even the rightwingers would agree on that.
if Gore was a dog,he would have to be a beagle.
thanks Larry, good luck and God bless

Well, first of all Larry, you forgot to mention that Al Gore invented the Internet. Or is that just another Internet rumor? :~)
I can not foresee an scenario in which Al Gore could emerge as the Democratic Candidate.
    1) He had his chance and failed. Blame it on hanging chads or the old population in FL or Jed Bush. Fact remains he lost and he’s old news.
    2) Al Gore has less personality than a baked sweet potato. Obama is generating tons of excitement with his message and oratory skill. Al would put people to sleep. Global Warming 101.
    3) This election is about sweeping change. Al represents more of the same.
    4) No way Democratic Party would allow anyone but Obama or Hillary to get nomination after this primary.
Al Gore could show up as a VP candidate but even that is highly unlikely. His global warming meltdown was 8 years ago. Say goodnight, Al…

Dedicated to Mr Internet, Al Gore

    A whole new world
Don’t you dare close your eyes
A hundred thousand things to see
Hold your breath – it gets better
    I’m like a shooting star
    I’ve come so far
I can’t go back to where I used to be

It’s sort of revealing that the kook fringe of the Democrat party thinks this could happen.

Of course, they’ve been predicting crazy things since they all got BDS (Bush Derrangement Syndrome). They’ve been telling us Bush is going to cancel elections, plant WMD, declare martial law, etc. etc. It’s BS and BDS. But the Democrat-Media Complex takes them seriously because they have BDS too.

But it’s telling because they are worried. If Hillary Rodham Clinton ends up getting the nomination, the black voters and hard lefties who supported Barack Hussien Obama are going to think it was through Clinton subterfuge.

If Barack Hussein Obama gets it, the Clinton machine may try to subvert him because Hillary will not want to wait another 8 years to run again to get the presidency she thinks she deserves. And Obama’s inexperience will lose it for him in November.

My prediction: the ticket will be Clinton-Obama. The Clinton machine wins. But loses in November.

I’m with you there Joe, not sure who McCain will pick as a running mate yet. But with the Dems fractured and don’t really see a compromise on Hillbillary and Mr. Change’s part, believe the divide will make McCain win by a landslide. Sorry Jack, but HillBillary seems real cose to being toast.

Mike, I wouldn’t rule out 3$Hill just yet. She has 3 weeks to bolster her campaign. Never underestimate a wounded Clinton. If she wins TX, OH and PA (a real possibility) she’ll regain the momentum. If Obama wins all three (unlikely but possible) he’ll be the clear frontrunner.
I can see 3$Hill offering the VP to Obama but I don’t see him accepting. I don’t see the reverse happening either.
Either will beat McCain in November because the US wants change and McCain is viewed as an extention of the Bush years.
JR, I’m even more concerned about you hearing that you’d vote for Al Gore over 3$Hill or Obama. Al is roadkill.

All this election stuff might be for naught anyway (again): The past two presidential “elections” were stolen: Gore DID actually win in 2002 and Kerry actually DID win last time – all due to the fixing of ballots and tampering with votes in Florida (Gore) and Ohio and New Mexico (Kerry). It very well could happen again…all of these was amazingly detailed and documented by Greg Palast in his book last year.

    February 17th, 2008 | 11:16 am

AJ, call a doctor – you have BDS!!!

BTW, if Gore won in 2002, it must be because he was running in some other country. Maybe France…

And flying saucers are taking Al Gore up to investigate global warming first hand.
TG that Gore and Kerry did not win…
    Any more conspiracy theories?

How would the Liberal Press allow an election conspiracy to occur against their beloved Dems? They would have been all over that.
    Scotty, beam AJ up.

Gore has no desire to be Pres, or he would have ran, and likely cleaned house. I do agree with you Larry, if the Dem convention turns out anyone other than the man, woman, or child who garnered the popular vote then McCain wins by a landslide.

Hilary and Barack need to sit down and decide who will be the P and who the VP on the ticket and take it out of the hands of the convention. Together they beat McCain, apart the beat each other.

oh how I wish this mess were over. What more can any of us say?The clinton haters, including the press, will never accept Hillary,The obama haters will never accept him.The democratic party is now broken, possibly never to be fixed.

The independents rule,so why not make them a party? We who are committed to a party must vote the way we are registered in a primary, repugblican or democractic, why can they vote for whomever? oh yeah,I forgot, this is politics.

i agree with RM Mccain is a third term for Bush/chaney.
how about this Pat, Hillary running as independent in November, just like Joe Lieberman did last year.
Mike you don’t come across well on this thread.

  17. MCaesar
    February 17th, 2008 | 3:26 pm

    Al Gore is an idiot.

He would have been President if he had any sense at all. In 2000, all he had to do was say “4 more years of Clintonian posperity” but this moron chose to separate himself as far as possible from Bill?

    For who, for what?

He thought the public was so upset about Monica that he didn’t want to be connected to him. dummy

The ONLY thing Al Gore had going for him was his connection to Clinton. MEMO TO AL: most Americans don’t care that much about the environment (and we later learned neither did he personally until years later). Further, Al was way out of line getting involved in the Elian Gonzales tragedy. The boy lost his mother and belonged with his father.

Al tries playing up to the right wing and it was stupid politics. They were NEVER voting for him anyway. All he did was alienate his liberal base.

    Stolen election?

Hardly. Win your home state if you expect to be elected President of the United States.

I am so glad the Democrats are not relying on that loser.

Gore-Obama 08, the GO team! As the Draft Gore website song went, “How can you not run, when you already Won?”

    February 17th, 2008 | 8:52 pm

I am with MCaesar– Gore did not simply lose his home state in 2000, he lost the state he and before him his father represented in congress for two generations. A bit like a Kennedy losing the white hose because they did not win Mass. – in 2000 tht election was Al’s to lose– ( populat president/solid economy/prosperty/peace) and he went and did just that.
This year its again the Dems to lose ( economy struggling/ unpopulat pres etc )
But as they proved in 2000- they can do just that and lose.

I don’t think this is the year of the voter anymore than past elections. I think overzealous media types make the mistake of believing whatever is happening now is the most exciting/important thing ever. Here’s hoping this is the year of professional journalism to report on “the year of the voter.
