LOL - Left wingers like Patrick D. Hazard are still battling Ronald Reagan...

Sounds like a union teacher....

But if you insist on still fighting those battles, the air traffic controllers union went on strike illegally because government unions are banned from striking - violation of the law #1. Then Reagan ordered them back to work under the Taft-Hartley Act, and they still refused - violation of the law #2. They deserved to be fired.

As for "eqaul time" requirements - sorry, I don't want government bean counters regulating speech - there are hundreds of outlets - radio, satellite radio, iPods, TV, cable TV, satellite TV.

Freedom of speech does not guarantee you will be heard, just like freedom of the press does not guarantee you a printing press.

If you don't like what you hear, turn it off. But no, that's not enough for "liberals" (more like fascists) - they want to turn it off for "other" people.

I know you libs think you are so much smarter than everyone else, but us peons can decide on our own what we want to listen to, really...

I'm in agreement with Larry that next Tuesday is very important as the Republicans will more than likely choose their nominee, while the Democrats will make the race even more interesting and make my home state of PA the probable decision maker to decide the Democratic nominee.
On Friday in San Diego, I attended the Hillary Clinton town-hall talk at SDSU. The most impressive thing to me was the turnout and enthusiasm of the young people, not just Hillary supporters but there were Obama supporters, a group of young people for the GOP, McCain supporters, Ron Paul advocates walking the campus. Unlike past National elections, I really do believe that the young people of America are excited by this election and will turn out in droves in November.
I think this is great for America that the young people of America are excited and energized about this important upcoming election.
In addition, most of Hillary's staff at the event were also young people, it brought back memories of my Wife and I canvassing the Frankford neighborhood we lived in when we were first married for McGovern/Shriver.
Anyway, I'm another political junkie waiting for Super Tuesday....

After reading Larry's column I wonder why anyone would want to become our next president. I won't bore you again with his impressive list of influential topics that a new president will deal with, but he did leave out the NFL and spygate along with pothole repairs, and curbing your dog.
You can't imagine the impact on my life when a pet owner doesnt clean up after his dog. ugh! GW Bush has two dogs himself and I have never heard of anyone having to clean dog doo off their shoes on the White House lawn. Hillary's dog on the other hand runs all over the West Chester NY neighborhood with complete abandon. Mitt Romney doesnt have to worry about curbing his dog. They have no curbs where he lives, just moats and ten foot walls surrounding his home. McCain's dog after years of neglect(his wife needs a lot of TLC) committed suicide. Obama however just got a new dog. One of those black and white sheep herding type. Along with the obvious symbolism, his dog can also rescue inebriated senators whose car has fallen off a bridge into the water.

Larry's right, the real super bowl is Tuesday, it can change the course of American history for generations and will directly affect most of us. It's critical in part because they increased the number of states voting this time, but also because its the first time since 1952 that it's been wide open on both sides and without a sitting VP on either side running. Add in the gender and racial elements and I'm not afraid to admit I'm as excited as a teenage girl on prom night. I'll watch the super bowl to see the commercials, surf the net while the game is on, check to see if Larry's show is on CN8 (flip it on during game and have everyone in the room yell at me), then fall asleep after Tom Petty. Super Bowl Sunday is no Super Tuesday
Go Giants!

You are right Larry. Tuesday is it. Our Founding Fathers would have been in awe. The Constitution is working like they never would have predicted. After Tuesday American will have the great confirmation of the Constitutions guarantee of Equal Rights for all. The whole world is watching. Lincoln got it right, "America is the great hope of mankind".

Watching European (and especially German) politics up close for the past ten years, I regard next Tuesday not as Superduper but rather Superduped. Ronald Reagan make two moves to demolish the New Deal--firing the striking flight controllers, and abolishing the equal time requirement in broadcasting. The first has weakened the less than rich economically, and the second has turned our elections into fiscal ripoffs for our media systerm. The airwaves belong to the public, not those businessmen temporarily using them in exchange for public service. Instead of required public service they have turned our citizens into punch drunk playpenners. When I started teaching fifty years ago Don McGsnnon and Dick Pack of Westinghouse's o and o's set a standard for public service that alas was never widely replicated. The first time I saw JFK was in 1959 at their Baltimore Public Service Seminar. The crassification of our public media has replaced Edward R.Murrow with blowhards like Rush Limbaugh. My recomendation is that after voting uselessly Tuesday, think creatively about what a shambles our media (and school system, actually our first mass medium!)have become because of conscienceless pop culture corrupters. Britney Spears? How do you like what you've done to our young people, SuperDupeds? Patrick D.Hazard,Weimar,Germany.

Larry, cut the schoolgirl on prom night act, this Tuesday's not that important. To be honest, sort of like many Europeans, i feel a detachment to politicians. Just put somebody in there who will leave me alone and I won't give it another thought. I doubt many of you will be greatly affected in your daily lives either. Unless you're like Larry and become a political groupie who develops a man crush on whichever politician will make eye contact with him. The Superbowl, however, will affect my life because I plan to get seriously inebriated and many of my vital organs probably will be damaged.
