Not Voting May Be Hazardous To Your Budget

Okay. The chances of Al Taubenberger defeating Michael Nutter in the Tuesday election in Philadelphia are slim to none. But ignoring this off-year election can be fraught with risks.

If you live in the suburbs, chances are you are voting for a school board member. Before you decide you’re too busy to vote , consider this: These school board members will most likely consider a tax increase.  They have taxing powers. So so some of the commissioners and council members in Pa. and legislators in New Jersey. Do you know who the candidates are? Or will it be too late.

Too late is when someone you have never heard of increases your taxes so much that you might consider moving. Too late is when you’ve elected a candidate for the Pa. Supreme Court that is a political extremist. Too late is just around the corner.

If you think I’m just some preaching and righteous member of the media who is sick and tired of hearing people complain about politicians when they never even take the time to vote, you are absolutely right.

We have learned our lesson in Iraq and here at home with our undeniably altered sense of what is important that electing people who campaign with a one brand of politics and govern another way, are very dangerous.

So is not voting.

If you think the ballots in Philly are bad, wait’ll you see what we’ve got on the ballot here in Texas. Voting for funding on the Trinity River and Texas cancer patients. Believe me, there’s PLENTY of problems worth (Pardon my Yiddish) Kevetching over.
