Corruption Blues – The Money Pit In Iraq
We’ve been talking about this story for a year and a half. The Democrats have been in power in Congress for ten months, but from this perspective, the
investigation of overcharges and corruption by our nation’s contractors in Iraq is not moving fast enough. If corruption and over-billing is an epidemic, then Congress should shut it down.
First of all, there is no question, from a series of government audits, that the stories reported a year ago of maybe several billion dollars in overcharges by the Halliburton subsidiary KBR, are right on target. The exact figure is unknown. Now , there are assorted reports of other contractors and sub-contractors allegedly using their war zone as a serious money pit.
The Democratic oversight committees are moving slowly on these investigations. There have been no direct actions. Even the Pentagon’s own Inspector General has confirmed the wrongdoing.
Losing lives in a controversial war is tough enough, and then there’s the miscalcalculations of the government but people profiteering from this war is
the ugliest chapter.
Democrats have been holding hearings for too long. It is time for action or recommendations for a criminal investigation.

Larry, I agree. We spend billions of dollars that we don’t have every day. It’s even more unfair if we are overspending billions. The stage is ready, and I hope Democrats smartly use this moment to step up, like they should be.
Now THAT’S the Larry Kane I remember when I was growing up in Philly in the 70′s and 80′s! Plain, clear, even a child could understand. It’s because of your amazing style of telling a story (that and Christopher Glenn’s 30-second segments between Saturday morning cartoons in the 70′s on Channel 10)is why I have a true love for local and national/world news to this day.
The Democrats appear to really be dragging their feet on this and a host of other things this insane Administration has unleashed on this country and the world at large. My only thought on their inaction is that doing nothing is part of the political calculus for the big elections next year…not wanting to ‘rock the boat’ and such. Holding investigation after investigation probably in their estimation will turn off left-leaning Repubs and Independents; it would amoung other reasons explain why impeachment was so famously ‘taken off the table’.
But if Congress will not check Lt.Flightsuit, who will?

Gordon in Augusta) and the metropolitan Atlanta area since 1995; so I missed your retirement earlier this decade, (I did see it however, on Youtube, great tool!). I’m here to tell you though, there hasn’t been a journalist, print or broadcast, that has had more of an impact on the way I gather information and the way I view the world, THANKS!

Yep, that’s the Larry Kane I know. Now, let’s try to get Larry to dig into the real reasons why Hillary recently hired Sandy (the secrets are in my pants) Burglar as an “unpaid” advisor.
Larry, don’t you ever wonder just what was in those documents to cause a seemingly intelligent man…yes, a National Security Advisor to Bill Clinton…to steal and destroy classified documents?
Just what was so important that Sandy was compelled (?) to violate his oath of office in order to hide and destroy secret Clinton era documents?
And, now, lo and behold, Hillary hires Sandy! I guess the old Godfather saw “keep you enemies even closer” has true meaning, given the fact that Sandy has something on Bill (and Hillary(?), no?
Go ahead, Larry, give it a try. Call Hillary and ask her point blank just what the deal is with Sandy. Ya gotta believe that if she did not know what Sandy was doing stealing and destroying secret documents, given the punsihment and admissions, Hillary had to ask, as Sandy’s employer, just what was in those documents. Obviously if the documents were totally of no pertinent value, why did he steal them? So, go ahead, Mr. Investigative Reporter, call Hillary and ask her to give a full explanation of the entire story. Could be a Reporter’s dream…knocking off a Presidential Candidate, no?
