Dem’s Debate -Big Night For Biden, Clinton and Obama

The Democatic Presidential debate in New Hampshire was a big night for Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and Barack Obama.

First, Biden. There is no question that Delaware’s own may have achieved a breakthough night. He looked presidential and well in command of himself and the issues. It is probably not enough to start major momentum but he easily looked mre impressive than the “strike a pose” candidate, John Edwards.

Hillary Clinton clearly won the night as a frontrunner should, but Barack Obama was outstanding- definitive but not divisive, direct but charming.

The others were average, and Edwards looked fairly weak, except on health care where is the only one advocating genuine universal care.

On the issues: The Democrats did not take advantage of a growing national issue – a surging crime rate. Crime is an issue that has been avoided by candidates for both parties. It is a missed opportunity.

The Dems also failed to offer a global view on the new Russian tensions, and the expanded regional problems in the Middle East.

It was decent political television.

The bottom line — Good news for Clinton and Obama. A possible breakthrough night for Joe Biden.
