Mayoral Candidates Frightened of Keystone Survey – They Should Be
Terry Madonna, Pennsylvania’s premiere pollster, will release his Keystone Daily News poll on the Mayor’s race, probably on Thursday. Madonna is a perfectionist who understands that this poll is a critical one that will tell candidate’s whether their strategies are working.
I can tell you that all the campaigns are tense, nervous, riddled with anxiety at the six week mark.
So far, the strategy has been fascinating.
Bob Brady is accentuating his great sense of bringing people together, his experience in healing and creating alliances, and his row house roots.
Dwight Evans, the city’s longtime advocate, insisting that he will have to declare war on crime. With the murder rate so high, Evans has a good issue.
Chaka Fattah is plugging his experience at the state and federal level, while dramatically declaring that he will deal with the social issues facing the city.
Tom Knox says he IS buying City Hall so he can turn it back to the people. Knox says he in independent enough for the job.
Michael Nutter has a unique strategy – he is running against John Street, proof, he believes that he is an innovator who has stood up to eight years of arrogance.
Will Nutter’s bold campaign bring him up in the polls? Can Evans make a breakthrough? Is Bob Brady ready to launch his long-awaited ad push?
Will Tom Knox go negative?
Is Chaka Fattah ready to be more aggressive against his competitors?
When Terry Madonna’s F and M Keystone Poll hits on Thursday, it may change the entire course of this campaign. My forecast: a tightening race, with less than six weeks left. The poll, as I said, should be released on Thursday.
Today (Tuesday) is the six week mark. I sense that the race is anybodys to win. The people are starting to focus.
The only thing missing in this race is the hint of impropriety.
Is that next?
